Default Motortrend Comparison GS-F v. Audi S6, Cadillac CTS-V

http://www.motortrend.com/news/compa...vs-lexus-gs-f/

"As for the newcomer, well, this one might leave you scratching your head, but hear us out: the 2016 Lexus GS F. The GS F at first glance seems destined for comparison tests with the Audi RS 7 or Cadillac CTS-V, yet its V-8 just doesn’t hang with the big boys. Bringing the GS F to a CTS-V and RS 7 comparison test would be like bringing a squirt gun to a bazooka fight. Putting it up against the S6 and CTS V-Sport evens the odds for the Lexus and provides a serious challenge for those two rivals"

For the price I would have expected better from the GSF. However, its still a more unique car IMO

Appropriate comparison to what it's "true" competitors will be in the marketplace. It proved Lexus builds a good car, but is just asking about $10k too much for it.

I can't say I'm surprised.
Isn't it pretty much the same with the RC-F with competition?

if it is priced at the 640hp CTS-V, then it should be compared to that model... even losing to the cheaper/slower Sport model is a disgrace for Lexus and confirms that it was overpriced and underpowered...

Lexus, do you hear us?

At the end of the day, this is a stopgap product. It's pretty clear when the next GS on the new platform, new engines will follow. There will surely be a turbo engine. Will it make 600hp+? Probably not, but more like 550hp or so. It's definitely overpriced for what you get and what the competition is offering at its price bracket.

i would say that is wishful thinking- this car will stay like this for atleast 6 years- what you might get is change in suspension as they did with ISF.- it is over priced so they might discounting these / backdoor deas

If you actually read the article, they say it was by far the best overall performing car. It had the highest trap speed, highest lateral g and the best figure 8 lap time. They thought it was too harsh and too stiff on the highway. For outright performance, they said GSF was the winner.

In any other world, that would be the winner for MT. If it wore a BMW badge it would've been declared a winner. The review was just dumb imo. Comparing it to cheaper slower cars then saying it can't hang with the big boys. They can't hang with the GS F! Kinda wishy washy imo.

Yea pretty much. This debuted at the refresh 3 years in so the next one should debut in 6 years at next gens mid cycle refresh. Then again, they might surprise everyone.

Yea all these old school mags are BMW biased. Still Caddy won on the merit of its magic suspension. The funny thing is, lots of other reviews say the car is comfortable and compliant out on the real world. Shrug.

Actually MT HATES BMW!
They just picked a Camaro SS over the M4 in a comparo and basically ripped BMW ///M apart.

They also said the HUGE price premium was not worth the small performance advantage the GSF has over the CTS Vsport.....when for 90k you can get the true CTS-V (640HP!!!) that will decimate the GSF in every way.
