Well, here is the thing. The GS F doesn't have any glaring flaws that's an instant deal killer, except maybe the styling. That's the good news for Lexus, the bad news is that its badly priced against the competition.

When a product or an asset is overpriced, people can

1. wait for the price to eventually reach equilibrium,
2. move onto to a substitute,
3. short the asset or commodity in question.

Of course shorting the GS F is not an option (pun not intended). I am one of these people standing on the sideline at the moment. Even if I don't end up with the GS F, it will be interesting to see if my pricing prediction turn out to be true.

Agreed, there will be an equilibrium. I think saying the price should have started out in the $60's is a little extreme though. That's not much more than a loaded GS F sport. That wouldn't make sense. Not to mention the GS F should be priced a little more than a RC F. But I would think there would be some deals to be had...especially towards the end of the year. That's why I jumped on my RC F in Nov.

if someone has access to the production #s vs inventory on the lots I think future incentives can be somewhat estimated. I would expect them to have really tightened down the supply chain on any F model at this point to minimize dumping trunk money to move these vehicles.

60K sticker price is insane (maybe next spring the current GSFs not sold might go for mid to high 60s). It would be a good way to push people on the higher end GS F sports to jump ship, but right now even the GS non F models have been hit with poor sales due to lack of incentives.

A BMW 550i starts at 67k, but once loaded up to be similarly equipped to the GS F, we are at 84k MSRP. Street price for that car will be in the high 70s.

My humble opinion is that people will pay a 8K-10K premium for the BMW 550i. So, that will force the price of the GS F down to the 60s range. In addition, not every 550i will be fully optioned and even greater discount can be had with cars on dealer lots. So, there are probably a good number of 550i in the low-mid 70s or even high 60s once you negotiate hard.

Apply similar arithmetic to the Audi A6/S6, Cadillac CTS V-Sport and the E-Class. It is not hard to see that the upside to GS F pricing is very limited. So far, the market is with me on this.

I agree that sticker price in the 60s will be crazy, but street price in the 60s I can definitely see that when winter comes. See my explanation above.

Frankly, I said this many times before and I will repeat myself again here that Lexus is burning away it's goodwill fast and is losing its pricing power. The questionable exterior styling language definitely contributes, the infotainment system doesn't help either.

Lexus wanted to differentiate and be "unboring", I give them props for that. But unfortunately the new styling language is not well received and in typical Japanese tradition they will not admit their mistake and the management double down on it until it propagated through the entire product range. Good luck with that.

For what it is worth, the new grill design actually works on the Lexus LS, but then Lexus push that idea way too far.

I would have bought a GS F for high 60s without a hesitation.

Hard to tell since most Lexus car sales appear down 30-40% except for ES in April sales figures. I'm just saying starting the price in the $60's doesn't make sense, not that it should not be discounted. I'm enjoying my discount on my RC F right now

as 8spd said, street price =/= sticker price. granted i think 60s are on the low side, but surely the current pricing is not attracting many people

Both of my local lexus dealerships are sitting on 2 GSF's an neither is budging on price, which is par for the course for these two dealerships. They aren't moving these cars right now and fall will be upon us before you know it when these vehicles are even less desirable. soon you will see the prices fall BIG. There are already several being advertised in the high 70's, that will soon become the low 70's.

$8,000 down plus tax and license seems like a lot for a lease.
