Default What type of enclosure to get?

So i decided on 1 8" JL w3v3, should i get a sealed, ported or bandpass box? Looking for a clean bass with minimal rattling noise. Also what kit do i have to get if I want to use my factory head unit?

I would go sealed for the most even response. I've found that ported just sounds too boomy for my taste. Sealed will also give you a little bit more room and would be easier to construct if you're making it. I have 12W6V3 in my car sealed and it's a very smooth and flat response in the lower frequencies. Babdpass would also be nice. There is a guy on here who has a bandpass GS and he's very satisfied with the sound too. No rattles according to him. Here is a link to his posts https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...t-now-154.html . For the best response I would even consider infinite baffle and maybe just point your 8 inch into the cabin through the ski pass through but that might take a little more fabrication or creativity.

What headunit do you have? If you're wiring yourself you can tap into the factory amplifier in the back of the car rather than the headunit. Heres a link to my DIY for ML systems (though i think the non-ML systems are almost the same procedure). https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...stall-4gs.html

Mines is perfect to me tons of bass and no rattling. Only thing that was rattling a little was the gas cap cover but that's a easy fix.

That's a good little sub the 8W3, i personally would go with a Sealed or ported box. The latter if you want a little more output. Sealed will produce a nice tight bass with clean fast roll off. Ported will be a little louder with more boom but being an 8" it should blend very well regardless with the factory system.

Infinite baffle could work, I would suggest fitting it as a replacement in the rear deck where the factory SUb is with a custom baffle and some sound deadening material on the parcel shelf if mounted that way. Although usually when going Infinite baffle larger subs work better for that application like two 12's or a single 15.

Here's some pics of people I know running 15's in I.B. The larger cone area of a bigger SUB helps when going I.B. But I have heard a single 8 and 10 before with good results they just don't dig down too deep on the lows with smaller subs. Hence why I recommend ported in your application with the 8w3.

I may actually go with a 10" w3 and lower the power instead of getting an 8" now. Looking into a bandpass enclosure and have it point right where the rear seat center arm rest is.

Wow I love that very clean. I wish I had someone to do a custom box like that here.
