Default Free remote start??

Found this out by messing around with the key fob. Remote start activate by pressing lock button multiple times (3) and holding on the third press.

Looking at my option sheet and owners manual just to make sure that I didn't pay for or already have this option. Lol
Confirmed Unlisted. FREE factory installed option!!

Just thought I'll share.

That's how we activate remote start on a car that has it. Gotta love freebies!

That's part of the Enform package. You can also start the car from the app on your phone. It's complimentary for the first year of ownership but after that, both will be disabled.

Haven't used this feature as much as I thought I would. Mild winter, plus I always forget to use it before I leave work. This may change if we have a very hot summer.

One of the few Enform perks. Just a trial though, so expect to pay if you still want it after the trial.

I believed I don't have enform system since I bought it used and now I still can use the key fob to start the car like OP did.

Either MY15 or 16 had a new remote start interface that tied the keyfob as well as app remote start to enform, which IMO is terrible. I don't understand why you need a subscription to press the lock button on your fob.

Hopefully it still works for me after the trial. Will come in handy with the hot California's summer. Guess I'll find out in December.

Multiple reasons. You get immediate notifications on the vehicle status with Enform (if you choose), you can start the car from anywhere so long as both car and phone have connectivity, you can set controls on the car for valet, kids, wife, etc. It'll run for ten minutes and heat up/cool down while you walk. It takes me about that long to get to my GS when I leave work so it's perfect for me. I notice some people don't like Enform because they just don't get the benefits. I think of it like a reminder-insurance as it notifries me when I forget to lock it or if there are any conditions that aren't met when I'm away (window even slightly down). Instead of giving the key to someone, you can just unlock it and lock it after they go in it...it's the little things that make it worth it. That said, if you're not going to use Enform for what it can do beyond distant start-up, than its not really worth the annual cost. My only complaint is that it isn't function-connected to the Apple Watch yet.

My 13' GS350 has remote start. It was an optional extra at the time.

dan8751's RS was a $500 port or dealer installed module that enabled the fob to be pressed three times
and start/stop the car from < 80 feet. No additional fee or subscription needed.

In 2015 Sedans and the new NX equipped with Nav had the new Lexus Enform Remote.
In 2016 All Lexi (except base CT's) had LER. Complimentary for one year, Phone and Fob RS.

You pay for what you want to use after the 12 month trial: $165/yr for the Safety Connect
which finds it if stolen or in an accident and provides the Cell/internet connection.

If you want the phone and fob remote start then it is $250/year. Both cease w/o subscription.

Only want the Navigation Concierge but not the starter? $299/yr and includes the Safety Connect

Want/need everything from the first year trial? $350/year keeps it all. The free forever Lexus App Suite
incorporates your phone into the Nav so well that only power Nav users such as Uber Drivers would
really need to pay that much.

The above post sums up everything completely and accurately. The bottom line is that, if you have a pre-2015 car and if it has the optional remote start, it should work with the fob and without a subscription, but, if you have a 2015-2017 car, it uses the Enform Remote, and, after the first year, if you do not have a paid subscription, neither the fob or the smart phone app will work to start the car.
