Default vibration/choppy ride at high speeds

Hi all. I recently purchased a set of Pirelli All season P7 plus tires for the 2014 GS AWD F. Im feeling some choppiness at about 80mph. Ive had the tires rebalanced, and even had a slight bend in a rim that i had repaired, which i assumed was causing the slight vibration and choppiness. Would the choppiness have anything to do with brand of tires, or is this just common for the GS? This is my first GS and i know the car isnt going to drive like an ES or LS, but i didnt expect the choppiness. im just hoping for some insight before i swap these tires out for a set of the Michellin Primacy MXM4 since im still within the window where im allowed to swap them.

The ride should be smooth up to the 142 mph electronically governed speed limiter. Have you had each wheel and tire combination Hunter GSP9700 'Road Force' balanced?

What up BC? Thank for the quick response. I want to say "yes" because for low profile tires it's always been done on my other cars. Ill double-check.

If the problem is tire or wheel associated then the Hunter Road Force balancing machine would certainly detect it....even to the degree where the tire might need to be rotated somewhat on the wheel to a different position to get a perfect balance. If the 'choppiness' is not tire or wheel associated then it would likely come from some other rotating weight, such as a rotor. Beyond that, the problem may be coming from a defective suspension part, such as a strut, etc.

Very helpful info BC. Thanks so much. You bring up a good point about the rotors as im scheduled to have them resurfaced next week. Im taking it in to have the tires rebalanced again, this time i specifically asked them to perform a roadforce balance.

I take it that Road Force balancing was not done...

Road Force balancing is the best thing to come along since tubeless tires. I would never have a set of tires installed without them being balanced with a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancing machine.

We have a 2013 AWD Luxury with Pirelli All season P7 plus tires, rotated every 5000 miles and are smooth, no chop or vibrations. I keep the tires at 34 psi all year round.

Update: Road Force Balance done and that did the trick. I tested the car by taking it up to about 90mph with no issues, no choppiness and no vibration. Thanks again for all the replies.

Wonderful!

I would never install tires without them being Road Force balanced. As I said, it's the best thing since tubeless tires.

Discount Tire Store #TXD33 in Plano, TX (a Dallas suburb) charges $5.00 per tire/wheel to do Hunter Road Force balancing. However, 'if' a tire needs to be deflated and rotated on the wheel to accomplish the balancing there is an additional $5.00 charge for each circumstance. If you care to confirm this information, their phone number is (972) 267-1877.

Also, when Discount Tire rotates your tires free-of-charge, every 5k miles or so, they re-balance each tire/wheel using the Hunter Road Force balancing machine.

This particular Discount Tire store installs tires on a lot of high-end luxury cars, including plenty of exotics and supercars here whose owner's demand perfection.

PS - I have had probably 3 dozen sets of tires installed on different vehicles using the Hunter Road Force balancing machine and have never had even one occasion where the tire needed to be deflated and rotated on the wheel to achieve a perfect balance. Also, I have never had even one occasion where the balancing (using Hunter Road Force) was anything but perfect well into triple-digit speeds, which is a far cry from results of regular balancing equipment.
