Unhappy Hit a deer

Hit a deer last night around 7:30 on I-81 going northbound. 3 deer walked across both lanes and before i could see them, it was too late and hit the first one crossing.
Bumper, grille, hood, pass fender and door will need to be replaced, Lexus roadside assistance dispatched a tow and was taken to the closest dealer. Luckily i was driving with another vehicle so i was able to get home fine. Looks like i'll be driving something else for a few weeks...

UPDATE (2/15): Car was fixed and a F-sport bumper added! Wheels to come in the summer.

Holy Christ. Glad you're okay.

How does insurance typically work on things like that? No fault...you have to pay the deductible?

Wow!! Never realized deer could cause that much damage. I see you were on the freeway. Do you recall your speed at impact? I usually travel the back roads in my small town to get around and deer are all over the place. I actually drive down the middle of the road as much as safely possible to try and avoid contact. Sorry about your vehicle and glad no personal injuries.

I was looking up info on that as well and I believe it's considered a no fault accident so rates and premium won't go up. Just pay the deductible as far as I know.

if anyone was wondering, the seat belts and whiplash headrests work very very well lol.

I was doing 65, only had about 30 miles to go and had about 35 cruising miles left so I took it slow. If I was on the fast lane I would've been facing 2 larger deers.

I'm glad you're ok, good thing your airbags didn't deploy that was definitely a bad day for the deer. I've got a OEM front bumper and grills that came off my car in great condition for sale that I can ship to you if you're interested.

Good to know you're okay. I had a friend when we were in high school who hit a deer, it broke out the windshield, and he was pinned under it's weight. He had to wait for the deer to be removed before he could get out.

Glad ur okay, this looks like a total to me from the looks of the pictures your guard rail is damaged also which is part of the frame. If your getting it fixed from the dealer they'll report on the Lexus drivers database as well as Carfax.

Hitting a deer is not a collision in the eyes of your insurance, it's under comprehensive. Good luck with the fix. I too was surprised at how much damage. Especially just going the speed limit, as I'm sure you were.
