Default Active Driver Monitor Assist

How do I test it?

Have tried:

-turning around (with a passenger holding the wheel) for a couple seconds.
-Closing my eyes for a couple seconds (same passenger holding the wheel)
-Same as above with LKA on and off; cruise on and off

I've not seen one account where the GS actually woke someone up because it determined the driver was either asleep or not looking forward.

Anyone actually have an instance where it did something other than the Lane Keep warning going off?

I actually surprised that no one has anything on this.

I think it also takes into account swaying within the lane. If it senses that you are swaying a lot and detects that your eyes aren't focused on the road, then you might receive an alert. It would be quite annoying if it made an alert every time the driver isn't looking straight.

I guess it wasn't a good or useful feature since Lexus removed it from newer cars. It's not even an option anymore.

Mine, a 2013 model, will activate if I'm looking to change lanes and approaching a car in the lane I'm leaving too quickly. Think of it as trying to get out of your lane and into an adjoining lane with a small window of opportunity but you know you can make it if you speed up.

I'm surprised that more people have not chimed in on this. If you have a 2013 with the PCS, then you also have that driver monitor. I use my adaptive cruise all the time, and have not been able to provoke it to do anything.

I remember seeing a video from Lexus College (YouTube?), where the instructor explained that the bump on the steering column has infrared cameras that take a picture of your eyes when you start the car, and uses that to determine if you're not looking ahead, which you would not be if you dozed off.

That bump? Yeah. Two little red eyes staring at night. Active Driver Monitor Assist-photo186.jpg

Is that it? So I need to let it take my picture first? Lol. Need to find that video you're talking about. I think I've seen It too.

Is it only on when radar cruise is on? I haven't been able to get this nor PCS to activate.

I'm not sure which is more scary to test...pcs means creeping up damn fast on something and driver-assist could mean not looking forward for some time...
