Real world driving, mpg, etc with 4GS?
Hello all
I'm currently driving a 2015 BMW 335i and it's a good car. The turbo 6 is unbelievably smooth and efficient. For my next vehicle I'm planning to step up a size and go with something like a GS or something from Audi or maybe Cadillac. The F10 5 series doesn't do much for me, despite significant revisions it simply doesn't drive as well (by well I mean sporty) as most of the others in the class.
The GS350 F Sport may be a good compromise while I wait to see what the next generation A6/S6 bring to the table along with the next generation GS and it's rumored turbo V6. When I test drove the GS last year (2015 models)I had a couple of gripes:
1) The infotainment system was difficult to use, have there been any updates and/or can you adjust to it pretty quickly?
2) The engine was smooth and linear but I was concerned about day to day power and efficiency
3) Interior quality seemed lacking compared to the europeans
So at this point you may be asking why consider it? Well the car drove fantastic, sporty with great steering response, great turn-in and a buttoned down chassis and the car was commendably quiet inside.
What kind of real world mileage are you guys getting?
What are the best and worst things about living with the car day-to-day?
Any regrets or "do overs"?

I drive the GS 350 F Sport daily and I have to say, Im impressed by what Lexus has done. The handling is precise and to me, its the best blend between comfort and performance. But my only complaint is the fuel economy. The fact that I'm getting about 15 mpg is horrible. I do drive fairly hard on a daily basis so. If only this car eats less and gives more

In a 2015 450h fsport. 32/34 mpg. I believe the 350 are topping out at 26. Some other threads have certainly talked about it. Try a search. Probably a lot of info on it.
Surprised you feel the info system is hard to use.

I average just under 24 mpg with mine when commuting. 25 miles each way, mixed highway and side roads. I just got about 25.5 mpg all highway with the cruise set at about 82 mph.

Super surprised to hear that you find the audio difficult. One of the absolute easiest for me to use. I drive a 2014 F-Sport w/8speed trans. Originally I had a 13 base 350 w/6speed. To me the 8 comes off the line and shifts smoother, however I find the 8spd seems to "fish" more for the correct gear. If I'm driving at 45mph and need to punch it or be more aggressive with the throttle there seems to be some indecisiveness going on vs the 6speed trans. Overall all I wouldn't go back though.

What year was your 535i? If it was an E60 that makes sense, if it's an F10? I've driven the F10 in several flavors and it just doesn't cut it for me, it feels soft and disconnected.

Lots of threads and posts on this here. I got ~25 on the highway, 16 or so in town which is poor IMHO, my V8 LS460 gets similar mileage. Both are AWD.
The 4GS is a great car...loved mine.

Lots of threads on it, but hey why not add to this one. I get ~ 19-24 depending on how I drive. Mixed highway/city/traffic with my MPG following how much of each I drove on that tank. I drive fairly conservatively most of the time in ECO mode, because I like the more relaxed throttle response. I'll get on it periodically and do notice the impact to MPG.
As an owner (not lease) I'd take a GS over anything BMW offers. Audis are nice and reliability has allegedly improved.
Personally, I find the interior to be of nice quality and the infotainment seemed a bit clunky at first, but it's a pretty slick system when you get familiar, with the exception of the moving-car-nannies that prevent your passenger from updating navigation information while driving.

I'm not a fast or aggressive driver at all, pretty laid back really but I'm only getting 16 mpg on average. F Sport, not sure if that makes a difference over the regular 350. I don't even use the "S" mode that much either.
