Default Subwoofer quality necessity?

Hi all - I've been through several threads here but I'm not sure my question was really answered.

I have a 2015 F-Sport, non-ML, and am ok with the audio except lack of bass, so I want to add a amp/sub. I'll be getting an AudioControl LC2i for LOC duties, and through various threads here I know the procedure.

I don't care if it can be heard outside the car - but I do want it DEEP; I'm much more of an SQ guy than SPL. Would a "budget" setup like maybe a 12" Alpine Type-S and a Kicker CXA300.1 ($300 for both) be OK for this purpose, or would there be an appreciable difference in moving up to something like a IDQ sub with, say, a RF Punch (or JL) 500w amp?

Thanks much, guys.

I'm running JL 500w amp and 12inch JL w6, with a bass ****. I like the tight hard bass, like you getting jabbed in the chest. I don't care for setting off car alarms on the street as i drive by, but i have that ability. Go w/ a sealed box.

That setup should be fine to add some bass unless you looking for something to make car alarms go off lol. I have 1' 12 Memphis M5 and Memphis 16 - PRX-1000. My bass is more than enough. Glad I'm able to turn it down.

I ended up picking up a local deal - 2 JL 12w6v2's with a JX1000/1D, used. Clearly that'll be too much for the GS, so I plan on picking up another amp, and putting one 12 in the GS and the other in my wife's Tahoe. Thanks for the recommendations!
