My Mercedes is a 4matic (awd/4wd/whatever) and it has a staggered setup. So I'd imagine it would be possible for to do on a Lexus too? I'm not home, otherwise I would post the tire specs on it. Not sure if this info was useful or not. lol

Welcome to CL! Yes, you can run staggered wheels on AWD as long as the overall diameter of the tires are close (not sure of the exact % but I think they say 3-4% difference is ok).

I'm running 19x8.5 & 19x9.5 with 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 lowered on Tanabes with no issues.

3-4% is huge...

The sizes you are running are within 0.5%, which is much more reasonable.

My AWD IS came with a staggered setup. I don't have the info with me, but if you go look at the Lexus site you should find the factory staggered tire size for the AWD IS, see how close they are in diameter/circumference, and ensure your new tire setup doesn't exceed that. The IS and GS use the same AWD system.

I just looked it up. It's under the "Specs" page.

The IS350 AWD has 225/40R18 (front), 255/35R18 (rear) .

So for the front, the diameter would be 25.09". The rear diameter would be 25.02". That would put the diameters within .3% (.003) of each other. Others should feel free to check my math.

For the proposed tire sizes of 235/40/19 front and 265/35/19 rear, I come up with a front diameter of 26.4" and a rear diameter of 26.3". That puts them at just under .4% (.0038). I'm no expert, but that seems to me like it could easily fall into the normal tolerance and tire wear pattern that I would think it would be fine.

Just curious, how did you calculate the 25.09" front diameter and 25.02" rear?

Happy to explain.

Front: 225/40R18

Width is 225 mm, so 225/25.4 = 8.858"
The sidewall height would be 40% of that, so 8.858 * .4 = 3.54 "
Diameter would be two sidewalls plus the 18" inner diameter, so 3.54 * 2 + 18 = 25.08

Rear: 255/35R18

Width is 255 mm, so 255/25.4 = 10.039"
The sidewall height would be 35% of that, so 10.039 * .35 = 3.51"
Diameter would be 3.51 * 2 +18 = 25.02"

Ah, I forgot to factor in the two sidewalls part. Thank you for your explanation, this helps a lot!
