Hey guys, I could use some help deciding between these 2 vehicles. I am a 49 year old male with no children in the house ( just me and the wife ).

I am currently driving a 2013 GS F-Sport. I am planning on keeping whichever vehicle I get for 3-4 years and then if I like the major redesign of the GS my next car will probably be that.

If any of you have both in your family, I would be interested in your thoughts especially. I like the fact that the RX doesn't require premium fuel, but am slightly concerned that the RX is seen as a soccer mom car (maybe not the f-sport though )

If I get the GS though, it will be 7-8 years in the same body style and a change might be nice. Both vehicles sticker for around 60k but I expect the resale to be better on the RX.

If it sounds like I am leaning on the RX, maybe it is because I am, but I really could go in either direction and your input would be helpful.

I would personally go with the GS, but this is about you and you're leaning towards the RX, so go with the RX.

Furthermore, the RX seems to better fit your lifestyle.
To me an RX comes of as a luxury soccer mom, BUT the RX F Sport adds that extra umf you're looking for and distances you from the soccer mom.
Are you keeping the 13 GS? All in all, in your case, i would recommend the RX for you.

No, I will not keep the GS. Whatever I decide, I will probably go with a GS when the next major model change comes out.

I feel that the GS fits your lifestyle better. But ask yourself...do you need that extra room if it's mostly just the two of you? Do you haul large objects? Do you take long road trips? If no to most of these questions, I would stick with the GS because it handles better and is more fun to drive. My father has a 2016 RX350 that I've driven quite a few times, and that thing feels like a boat. It's a nice car if comfort and versatility is what you value most, but not very engaging to drive (doubt the F-sport package changes it that dramatically). Whenever I drive my GS, I still smile when I hear the engine, feel the push, and feel the grip through corners.

I mean you can put regular fuel into the GS too, won't break the car lol

Yeah, don't use the premium fuel as an excuse to get the RX. The gas tank is bigger, so whatever savings you think you would have by getting regular fuel, is negated by the additional 4-5 gallons you'll be shoving in there.

If you don't have kids, I would def go with the GS. The fun factor of the GS is definitely there, not so much with the RX. I have a 2016 GS 350 F sport and I am not regretting 1 min of it. I was considering the RX because I have kids but in the end I still chose the GS350

Definitely go for the GS. It's literally the best mix between comfort and performance.

I say go for the RX. Change it up a little and then come back to the GS in a few years.

Received a 2015 RX450h as a loaner when my GS350 was at the dealer for an oil change. Long story short, i couldn't wait to give the car back and get into my GS... I know the 2015s are before the remodel but i couldn't believe just how inferior the interior quality was compared to the GS. On the highway the CVT pulls effortlessly and gets you moving though which was nice. I know i might get some hate for saying this but coming from a MKV jetta, it did not feel like i was in a $50,000 car.

The new Lexus GS is coming in 2019 though so quite true. Rumours said its coming with a turbo 3.0 V6

I thought about this too, just to change it up, but my standards for agility have already been set by the GS. My next car needs to be the same or better. The RX is rolly polly, 7.7 seconds 0-60, and the F Sport forces AWD on you which adds parasitic loss to the drive train making it even worse. It's a no go in my book. They need something like the Audi SQ5 to convince me.
