Default Just Installed Invidia Q300 Axle Back

For my first mod, I chose to get the q300 axle back exhaust. I finally installed it to today and am satisfied so far. It definitely sounds louder than stock but it's not overbearing. However, I have a few of my questions below that I hope people can answer for me. Thank you all.
  • Do I need to reset the ECU or is it just plug and play?
  • Is the donut gasket (in between midpipe and axle back joint) supposed to show? The donut gasket that came in the box is thicker than the stock (old) gasket and it creates a slight gap. Even though there is a gap, the gasket appears to be sealing everything. I'm pretty sure I installed the spring loaded bolts and nuts correctly but I just wanted to double check.
  • How long does it take to get the burning plastic smell to go away?

As long as it's sealing and you have no leak, it's good

1)No need to reset the ECU.
2)The provided gasket should be fine.
3) More you drive, faster away it goes.

Thanks guys. I've driven maybe 80 miles since I installed it yesterday and I only noticed the smell during longer drives (20+ miles). Anything under 5 miles there's no smell. It sounds like it'll go away soon enough so it's good to know everything is good.

How are you liking the axleback? I'm thinking of getting one since it's cheaper than the Tanabe.

I like mine, gives the car a more lower note at idle and accelerating. Just as soon as I get home I will be getting the midpipes with resonators installed.

I like it so far. The sound is deeper but it's not too loud.

It's weird though, since I'm used to the quieter ride before the axleback, it feels like I'm going faster because of the noise but I'm actually not.

Pretty straight forward install? Were you happy with the quality?

It was pretty straight forward except for the donut gasket that was included in the box. There's a metal inner sleeve on the inside diameter of the donut gasket that would not fit on the end of the midpipe. The inside diameter of the sleeve was too small to slip over. And without the sleeve, the gasket was too loose. I ended up cutting the sleeve which allowed it to wrap around the midpipe. The donut gasket was then able to slide over the sleeve for a snug fit. There doesn't appear to be any leaks but hopefully I didn't mess anything up.

Thanks for the feedback. I might throw one of these on my wife's grocery getter.

I'm thinking of getting the q300 axle back also, so whats the solution to this gasket that comes with the exhaust not fitting? Do you use the original instead?
