Default 2016 GS Fsport Shift **** Swap (PICS)

Got a hold of a '16 Shift **** with the plastic clip attachment so I got bzebern to install it for me today. Kind of a hassle just to swap the shifter but it's worth it IMO. The shifter feels a lot lighter and more comfortable. Here are some pics of the install and some after shots of my car since i got it washed the other day...

Why did you have to take out the whole center console? It's not just as simple as: 1) unscrew **** 2) screw in new **** 3) crack open a bottle of Heineken 4) admire ?

Nope. It's actually a pain in the *** but luckily I had someone who knows what they're doing help me out . Theres a plastic clip under all the new Lexus shift ***** that clips the boot to the shifter, and that clip doesn't fit the '16 GS Fsport shift ****. So we had to take the clip off the shift boot which is tied with a zip tie that required us to take the whole center console apart, cut the zip tie, swap the old clip with the 2016 GS clip, zip tie the new clip in and put it back. Only then were we able to twist the **** back and clip it to the shifter.

So it's been a couple days and i've come to a conclusion that I really like the new shifter. It feels so much better in the hand and looks really great. Cool little mod for anyone that wants to update their interior!

I had a friend that was swapping his out for a GSF shifter so he gave me his for $50. I believe it's around $150+ cause you have to buy the shifter plus the leather boot. Im not 100% but i believe the only way to get the clip that attaches to the shift **** is to buy the boot. Check this thread out for more info https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...hift-****.html

Do it. Maybe it's just me but it feels better than the other shifter and also looks cool as hell.

any advice you can give on unattaching the clip from the shifter to the boot would be much appreciated!

You gotta take the whole center console off and flip the boot inside out. You'll notice that theres a ziptie tied around the clip, just cut the ziptie off and replace it with the new clip, then ziptie the new clip in the same way, put the boot back and you should be fine.

Gives a more precise feel to your double-clutched speed downshifts doesn't it?
