Took the plunge - '14 GS 350 F-Sport
Hi all,
Was having too many issues with my 2006 BMW 530i, that it was time for a new vehicle. After riding in my friend's '16 GS-F (amazing car), I just brought home a CPO '14 GS 350 F-Sport. The car drives so very nicely, (even coming from a BMW), but, I do have a few noob questions:
1. how is your experience with gas mileage? (been only 2 days, but, seems to be under 20 mpg?)
2. I have a (please excuse my quirkiness, windows phone, and everything works well except for text messages aren't announced / can't respond. Is there a trigger/switch anywhere?
3. has anyone thought of applying a "clear bra" to the front? (after 2 days, I already have a scratch on the bottom valence )
Anyways, so very glad to have found this forum - everyone seems incredibly helpful and supportive!

Welcome to Clublexus. Mileage is alright, I found that driving in sport and eco doesn't really matter. I notice i usually get the same milage regardless of which mode i'm in.

16-17 MPG for me and 18 on a good day. CA traffic is not GS friendly.
My car has a lot of chips and scratches too. I just have to let it go, it's part of the life of the car.

Congrats to you! Its a sweet ride. Powerplant doesn't compare to the v8 of the GSF though.
I see you're in California, any plan for modifications?
We have a bunch of items for your car.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll monitor and just enjoy the ride. Regarding mods, I'm looking at the tons of awesome mods that people on this site have done - giving me ideas! (suggestions welcomed)
First thing, however - a clear bra (possibly) - as Cali freeways are full of big trucks kicking up stuff.
Thanks again

I'm interested in others feedback on this to. I've got a S5 and notifications don't populate.

Heatboy - I did try to find this, but, couldn't find the setting on my phone. Nevertheless, on my BMW (2006) it worked quite well - albeit, one of the few things that DID work well. I also tried to unpair / repair, as well, with no luck. It just maybe my phone compatibility?

Don't bother with Eco mode unless you're doing 100% stop and go city driving with no highway. It just doesn't help much at all in mixed driving and can even be frustrating. 18-ish is normal for a 3.5l V6 with 302hp. Take it on a nice long nonstop highway trip on a tank if you wanna see 28mpg or so.
I doubt Windows Phone is supported well if at all, I mean, Microsoft themselves killed it off recently. Sorry, can't help there.
A clear bra is always a good idea, in fact, most of the dealers around here have the 3m kind preinstalled (yes, half for "dealer juice" on the price, but half because people always ask for it). I'd go about halfway up the hood or so. The front bumper and hood will get punished on this car over time, nature of the beast plus endless construction and gravel trucks here.
Congrats on your new purchase also! You'll enjoy it but will be itching for the GSF in no time...or waiting for the 400hp TTV6 coming in about 3 years.

Afrosheen - I hear you about the Windows Phone - likely going to change back to either Samsung and/or iPhone in Sept. At least with those, I can download the ENFORM app!
Also, will take your advice and skip out on the EcoMode. Doesn't seem to be helping at all - so might as well enjoy the ride.
Regarding the ClearBra, must admit -as a noob- didn't realize how expensive it is (installed of course). Likely will still do it ...
Lastly, thanks - already excited about the vehicle - including possible mods in the near future.

I had the same issues with my messaging on a ES awhile back with my IPhone. There is a delete personal settings (or something) in the general setup menu, I can't think of it now. but after I did that I was able to receive messages from my phone on the car display.

My 2006 iDrive was the "professional" = with navigation. Nothing special that I can tell. It just worked for text. To be clear, it didn't display anything, it just read the text message, and allowed me to reply hands-free. My new(er) GS does everything else, seemingly really well sofar, but deaf to the text messages.
