What's up guys, I was wondering, what is the ideal cold tire pressure to have during hot Houston summers and on the flip side, when the temperature drops, what's the ideal pressure?

I have them set to 33, but as the heat closes in, that number goes up to 35 or 37. Is running tires at 35/37 PSi safe?

I am looking for longevity here versus performance. Any insights would be welcomed!

Lexus recommends 33 PSI (cold pressure) all around for my car. That's what I use for the best ride and performance. In summer temperatures the tires will heat up to 37 degrees, as they should. No big deal. And yes, that is perfectly safe.

As long as it never drops below the cold pressure, you're fine.

The PSI always goes up in the summer months - when I start the car the PSI is at 33 (which is where I keep them) and as I drive around town, goes up to 35-36.

Completely normal as the resistance and heat build while driving causing the pressure to increase slightly. It may make the ride feel little less comfy but that would only be if you are really in tune with the ride quality at different PSI's...

Having consistently higher pressure than recommended tends to give you more longevity due to better rolling resistance but its usually not worth the trade-off in ride quality.

Damn I'm in Dallas and mine seem to stay around 37/38....should I let some air out? Bout to make the trip down to Houston this afternoon.

will inflating/deflating the air on your tires show the change when you view your tire pressures in the dash screen.
btw, hopefully soon to be GS owner in a month or so

@jdigga99: Entirely up to you...small variances in the recommended PSI will not affect too much. All manufacturers know there will be variances and test to confirm that the car will perform similarly with those variances. http://www.tirerack.com/winter/tech/...e.jsp?techid=1

@iWannaGS: In my experience, the sensors usually need a little time while driving before displaying the correct PSI or a restart of the engine. I once added air while the car was parked/running and only until I shut it off and restarted, then the new, correct PSI readings were shown. Sensors sometimes have a mind of their own!

I'd be down for that, what I've wanted to do for a long *** time is a track day up by college station. I think itd be pretty dope to have some GS/IS owners hit up the track and see what we got!
