Thanks for the kind words. As long as it helps people I'm happy. It's always nice saving a buck on these easy jobs.

I will try and get a front diff service video up in the next few weeks.

I got mine done today, the drain and fill plugs were both rusty and were on really tight. I soaked it with PB blaster, whacked it with the hammer, and it took almost an hour to get both out. In fact, the fill plug was semi-stripped when it eventually came(luckily) as I just didn't have very good leverage with the breaker bar with the car on ramps and floor jack, and the exhaust piping in the way. I wish they could've used regular hex bolts instead of these 10mm allens as they strip real easily.

Anyways, I picked up new plugs and crush washer from Toyota just because I didn't feel comfortable reusing the rusty plugs. Here are the part numbers for those who might run into the same situation.

90341-18035 Drain plug(with magnet)
90341-18032 Fill plug(w/o magnet)
12157-10010 Crush washer (need one for each plug)

The only difference between the two plugs is the magnet. The threads are identical, in fact, the drain plug fits perfectly as the fill plug, and the fill plug is a few $ more... scam...

Not sure if it's just me, but after the change, shifts from P -> D or P -> R seems much smoother/quieter than before during a cold start. No clunking. Very happy. Once again, thanks Dan for the video.

Does anyone know if the factory fluid in the differential is synthetic or not? Was planning on swapping mine out on my RWD F-Sport at 40K miles and replacing with Mobil1 Synthetic.

I also have a GX470 and swapped out the differential fluids and transfer case fluids with Mobil1 synthetic and had a lot of trouble with the front diff drain plug. Actually stripped it out and had to take it to the dealer to get it out and do the fluid change. Cost me $90 total for the front diff for the drain, refill and stripped plug work. They said it happens a lot on the front differential of the GX470 for some reason. I wonder if the same 'reason' exists for the front diff of the GS350 AWD cars as well due to the same 10mm hex tool which is needed.

I don't know what was originally in my car but I used Mobil 75W90 Synthetic and have had no problems.

The only time I have had problems with drain plugs is when they haven't been removed in years. That is why I like to service things on a regular basis too.

Thanks to Dan’s videos, I did my diffs today. Very straight forward. Seems smoother, but most likely in my head. Glad it’s done. Transmission drain and fill is next.

I recently serviced the differential in our '13 F Sport. I used Red Line 75w85. I bought a cheapie garden sprayer to refill the fluid; worked like a charm!
The allen plugs were a snap to remove, which is a combination of CA sunshine, cleaning out the plug hole and a Snap-On allen key.

It did seem to smooth out the drivetrain... Placebo?

The only thing different from Dan's video was that my overflow bolt is a 5, not 6 mm allen. Semantics.

A garden sprayer worked for you? I have one....NEW. I'd rather use this than buy a pump I'll use once

Here's the cheapo Amazon ( or Ebay? $10 maybe?) sprayer with a little Red Line left over and plugs:

Correct. Diffs were all 10 mm allens. I was talking about the overflow on the transmission pan

The dealer gave me 4 washers, but the drain plug on the front diff was huge. They said they're the same. They were not correct haha
