Default LED Reverse Lights DIY

Ordered some LED lights from VLED this week and I'm getting around to installing them.

Reverse lights

Reverse lights were very easy to install. I highly suggest using panel removing tools to remove the plastic fasteners (15 fasteners).

Remove 15 plastic fasteners

Panel removal tools

You will need to remove this cover as well

Cover removed

Twist the gray plastic piece counter clockwise to access the reverse light bulb

Size comparison

921 Bulb

New bulb installed. Be sure to test to make sure it works. If not, remove the bulb, rotate the bulb (switch polarity) and re-install. I tested the bulb by turning the accessory on (push the start button twice without depressing the brake) and put the car in reverse. To do this, you will need to remove the small plastic cover next to the gear shift and manually put the car in reverse.

New Led inside the housing

Updated Pics at Night! Wow these turned out really bright! Huge improvement over stock bulbs.

Thanks! Yeah they are pricey. I'm sure there are some cheaper ones out there. I wanted to try out the VLED ones as I've heard great reviews on them.

I'll take some more pictures once its dark out to see how bright they are.

I'll test it out when it gets dark in few hours. It's still day light here in Vegas.

When I changed mine to the LED, there was a slight improvement when using the reverse camera at night.

You can easily find cheaper ones similar to the OP on eBay (exact specs or better). I think mine were about $15 for 2, and I changed them earlier last year.

Great write up I change all my bulbs to led as soon as I get a new car.

Few tips. You dont have to remove all 15 clips. You dont have to completely remove the cloth housing or whatever its called. Only remove 4-5 clips on the top it will give you access to the bulb.

I recently bought this led reverse bulbs from IJDM oh boy they are super strong and only $25. Looks of the bulb looks nice as well.

Nice write up...I also changed the reverse lights to LED but without removing the entire trunk liner - just removed the clips enough to give me access. The LEDs ouput is most notable at night with the back-up cam.

VLEDs make some great LEDs- the quality, fit and finish are outstanding.

Will these fit the base 2015 GS350? The fitment guide won't show 2015 bulbs.

Yes, the 921 bulbs will fit the 2015. Here's a few links that I use to verify bulb sizes.
