'13 vs. '14 F Sports? Buying advice needed
OK....I am getting ready to buy a F Sport AWD. I am only looking at L/Certified cars. I found a '13 with only 15,000 miles. I have them down to $37,500. I think I can get it for less though. And at an other dealership I found a '14 with 25,600 miles for about the same money. Both are color combos that I like. Since I have a company car, I only put 9K miles on per year, so the difference in mileage is a year of driving for me.
Two questions: I see very little difference (other than front valance tweaks) between the years. Are there any differences between the years that mean anything?
I realize that it is better to buy a '14 vs '13 in terms of residual value, but I am a sucker for low miles cars.
Thoughts?
Jeff

2014's have auto folding side mirrors, an auto for the heated an ventilated seats, 8-speed transmission on RWD, and a few firmware updates. Excellent deals can be had on the remaining 13's though. (source)

I've done some online searching around the tri-state area and the prices you've listed seem kind of high. List prices for CPO AWD 2013's @ ~22k miles /w Luxury Package seem to be around the 35K-36k mark (probably can be had for 33K-34k), and list prices for used, non CPO 2014's @ ~15k miles /w Luxury Package seem to be around the 36k-37k mark (probably can be had for 35-36k). I know you're looking for an F-Sport and not a Luxury Package, and that you're not willing to consider non-CPO vehicles, but considering the Luxury Package MSRP'd for more and is arguably less common, I would imagine you can probably do quite a bit better than the prices you've been quoted. From what I've seen, I would expect a non CPO vehicle to cost 1.5k-3k less than any given equivalent CPO vehicle; I think essentially what you're paying for is an extra 2 years/unlimited miles after the factory warranty runs out.
Examples:
2013 https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0218/overview/
2014 https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4532/overview/
If I were you, I would definitely hold out and try to find a better deal unless you're in rush and need a car asap. Even then, as long as you're willing to drive up to 200 miles or so, I'm sure you can find much better prices elsewhere right now.
