Default Are the Brakes Different in the F Sport vs Base GS

I'm looking for some winter tires as the deals right now are pretty good buying off season.
I want to go with an OEM setup for wheels maybe stock 17" but I have an F Sport AWD and noticed a couple of posts where some people said that the 17" stock wheels will not fit the F Sport due to the size difference in front brake rotors and caliper clearance on the F Sport models?

1. Do we have different brakes in the front?
2. What is the lowest size OEM wheel we can run on the F SPORTs?

I would like to run 17"'s in winter as the tires are less than half as 18" ($101 vs $219 ish)

Thanks!

You can run 17", since only the F-Sport RWD uses larger brakes. The Fsport AWD has the same brakes as the Premium and Luxury RWD and AWD.

Wow, that makes the AWD version sound like kind of a ripoff then. Thought the 19's were on the F Sport to clear the big brakes, but that's only for RWD models?

I always have a dedicated set of winter wheels and tires. So I will be picking up set of 17" OEM wheels.

This is why the F Sport option is less expensive on the AWD GS. Regular brakes and square setup, but everything else is there.

AWD F-Sport differences from RWD:

Active Rear Steer not available
No big front brakes
Same 6-Speed trans; no 8-speed
Tires are not staggered
Stock tires are All Season touring tires.

OTOH, an AWD F-Sport can drive through snow like an SUV. I know, I have driven them, even on the el crapo Turanza EL400s down unplowed streets with 4-6" of snow.

I have sold, even here in NJ, a couple of RWD F-Sports and they did sell quickly. IMO the active rear steer just makes the car.

Good stuff, since I'm nowhere near an AWD market, I didn't know the F Sport option was cheaper on those.

And yes RLD, the rear wheel steering is awesome. Sure, it's only 2 degrees, but that shaves 4" off the turning radius in a parking lot, and digs in at high speed during turning. You know it's there.
