Here at the Lexus/Toyota plant in KY we usually won't start building the next model year until mid September.

The triple beams are available on the GS 350, as I personally ordered this option as part of a safety package (around $1800).

They didn't have to give him anything off since he ordered it.That isn't bad not sure how much some people are getting off new 2016's.Proably does make a difference on f sport or not.

What is the functional difference between the triple LEDs and the standard lights?

LEDs tend to use less overall power and Toyota is using them extensively in their Prius since efficiently using power is essential to that vehicle. It only makes sense now that they are moving into other vehicles in Toyota's assembly line...I'm sure they are working with a LED manufacturer that can produce them in mass at a lower cost.

LEDs also are easier to work with in terms of design because the LEDs themselves can be smaller, put into different shapes, sizes and forms to create a unique look (hence the great looking triple LEDs on the 2016 GS, the LED DRLs on the 3IS and the DRLs on the 2013-2015 GS).

This topic is also being discussed in the following thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-2016-a-2.html

As with any light system, they can. I don't think Lexus or Toyota is doing that with LEDs. --> Edit: It looks like the 2016 Luxury Package comes with the Adaptive Front Lighting system. They don't do it with many of their lights presently.

I have found one 2016 GS 350 Luxury at Lexus of Riverside. I don't like the color. Pearl White/Brown or Black are the best. Here is the link: http://www.lexusofriverside.com/Vehi...-CA/2758749843

Toyota make all their Corolla headlights standard with LED and it does look better. I feel Lexus cheap out on their products, make me regret buying my 2013 GS: no full stop for adaptive cruise control, no power trunk, no LED headlights, outdated navigation......

Audi did really good jobs with their LED headlights!!

Yes, the Corolla has standard LED headlights, but they don't seem very bright...they don't seem to light up the road as well as Xenon on the 2013-2015 GS. Having LED headlights doesn't necessarily mean better headlights. The IIHS just rated the performance of many headlights, and many BMW and Mercedes LED headlights were in the poor and marginal range.

If you wanted the features like "full stop for cruise control, power trunk, and standard LED headlights," then you should've gotten the 2016+ GS, because all of those have become available. Nav system definitely needs to be updated...maybe some Apple CarPlay or Android Auto integration would be nice.
