Default 3rd Gen Mark Levinson better than 4th Gen non-ML?

Does the 3rd Gen Mark Levinson sound system sound better than the 4th Gen non-Mark Levinson sound system?

if I were you, I'd bring a CD with songs you're familiar with and try them out in both models...ML and non-ML.

I personally thought the ML sounded cleaner - so I went with that option.

Are you saying 3rd Gen ML was cleaner than 3rd Gen non-ML, or are you saying 3rd Gen ML is cleaner than 4th Gen non-ML?

I know ML is better than non-ML, but was wondering about 3rd Gen ML vs. 4th Gen non-ML.

I actually like my non ML in my gs200t than my 3rd gen GS. Then again, Its been a while since I've heard a 3rd gen ML system as I had a 2015 IS prior to my Gs200t.

Have both cars and can share my opinion. I think they are both almost the same. However, I feel like the 3rd Gen has better overall balance...hitting the highs nicely with a crisp sound. Bass isn't its strong suit though.

The 4th Gen is a little more "boomy" with a nice thump on the low end with good clarity. I was going to add a JL Audio sub to my 4th Gen GS but decided against it after playing a variety of sources and noticing that the sound was good enough for me.

Thanks. Your 4th Gen was not ML, correct?

Correct - I have the "premium," non-ML system in my 4GS.

Thanks! I'm looking at used 3GS and 4GS and noticed that there are a higher percentage of 3GS with ML compared to 4GS. Glad to hear that non-ML 4GS is close.

NP - Any chance you might be looking for that very rare 3GS with a V8? The GS460? If I were going to get a 3GS over a 4GS, that would be the only version of the 3GS i'd get over the 4GS knowing what I now know with gas mileage and overall power as a current 4GS owner.

Most (if not all) of the GS460's also come with Mark Levinson as standard equipment. Here's a rare low mileage, certified one: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...6224/overview/

I have both and can tell you that the ML in my 3GS sounds slightly better than the Non-ML in my 4GS.
