the markup on used cars. same car $6000 difference

check these two out.. basically the same car, just on different sides of the country.$6000 difference..
does anyone know how much the dealer marks up cars that come in off trade ins?
would anyone consider buying a certified pre-owned with factory sight unseen and have it trucked across the country to your house?

I can tell you that it really depends how much they bought the car for. That number can range anywhere form $2-7k roughly. I was able to get my certified pre-own for $8k less than the sticker. After years of purchasing cars, I started noticing a trend that really their online prices are somewhat very close to their final numbers. Once you get to the dealer, you will see they car may be listed for thousands higher. This is to attract the people who are not searching and think that they are getting a hell of a deal if they were to get anything off the sticker.
As for your situation, I can tell you for a 2013 with almost 60k miles selling for anything more than $33k is high. I am not sure the demand for them where you live but here in California, there is a lot of inventory so most dealers compete with each other on there online pricing.
For the certified piece, this was the icing on the cake for me in deciding between BMW or Lexus. though most cert cars will run roughly $2k or so higher than the non-cert due to the inspection cost of it. Lexus recently changed their Cert Warranty to extend 2 additional years past the original warranty with UNLIMITED miles!! So you can drive the hell of of the car within those 2 years (longer if you purchase a car less than 4 years old or under 50k). For me, having the piece of mind being able to enjoy the car for many more years to come was definitely worth buying certified from Lexus.
I hope this helps in making your decision.

Here in canada there's not much inventory.. They either have high kms or the undesirable (IMO) brown interior. I'm not too picky but it's been about a month and a half of daily searches that I've broadened my search Canada wide. I don't think I could buy a car sight unseen but it's kinda giving me hope that a white or black exterior with black or cabernet interior will be available to me sometime soon!
congrats to you getting $8k off. Good work!

Kind of makes me sick though. Traded my 2013 (purch Feb 2012), with 11k miles in Oct 14....dealer gave me $36K. Car was immaculate. I have no idea what they sold it for, but paying $45K for a 2013 at this point is completely STUPID.
