Default Who uses those paddle shifters?

I don't see the point of using them on normal roads at all. I think the automatic D mode shifts way better than a normal human can in most conditions. Any thoughts?

me. I shift down to a lower gear when I need the speed to pass someone. I started doing this when I found out that you could do this just by pulling the paddles instead of using the center shifter. After a short while (about 10 seconds), it'll go back to auto mode. Or you could hold the right paddle for a few seconds and it'll go back to auto mode too. Pretty cool.

I use the paddles to downshift in order use the engine's braking to slow down when approaching a turn or intersection. It saves the brake pads...

Brake pads are less expensive then transmissions

Downshifting (or upshifting) does not take any life off a transmission.

I use the paddles occasionally but I do use it to engine brake when going down a long decline through hills, etc. instead of riding the brake for minutes.

I use them when driving in a more spirited manner! I enjoy having the convenience of selecting my gears with the paddles, and now seems awkward when I drive cars without them.

I do wish Lexus used a better quality material, some leather and metal, instead of the silver painted plastic.

I ended up using the gear lever more than the paddles. I do use it sometimes, especially in traffic, I drive in manual cause it helps the car from rolling too fast if I have to stop again in a few meters, saving my brakes and foot.

Mostly I use it to pre-emptively drop a gear or few so i don't have to wait for a downshift.

I also use it to engine brake.

Use them daily. 2 miles of winding road to my house. Since my hands are on the steering wheel anyway, the paddles are easier to use then moving the foot to the brake.

Other than those circumstances, never use them.

A manual GS would be awesome, but sadly I don't believe it will ever happen.

Doesn't bother me a bit. I'd take a slightly slower manual over an automatic any day.

They will most likely release all CVT vehicles than go back to manuals. I hate CVT.
