Default What's this hose for?

Does anyone know what's the name/purpose of this hose? Mine's got what seems to be white residue on it(although if I swipe my finger over it, it doesn't come off), is that normal? Do any of you guys have this?

With Respect , first thing I would do if I were you, would be to study your engine compartment and get familiar with the workings of your engine. This is your upper radiator hose, which engine coolant flows through to the engine.

The best of my knowledge, the powder residue is a preservative for the rubber hose, it is on mine a little as well and most others that I have seen. It can be cleaned off and is no problem.

Mine looks crusty too. You have nothing to worry about.

Mine came like this when I bought it new in 2014. I'd keep this power on because if the manufacturer decides to deliver the car like this they probably know better than we do so I don't try to clean it or remove it. Whatever makes my car last longer I will do. But if you leased it go ahead and rub it down with some armorall.

Get some interior trim cleaner or some Back to Black cleaner and clean it with that. It will make it look like new again.

Mine looks just like that. Like others have mentioned, you have nothing to worry about and I would just leave it alone.

That gets hot so don't just go touching it. And don't try to remove it when the engine is hot.

It's perfectly normal as that is the coating on the rubber hose to preserve it. That is your upper radiator hose. When they are new them come like that. It's like a wax coating.
