Default Foot well LED replacement

One thing I loved about my Bimmers was the interior LED illumination: well placed, bright and amber, customizabile colors, customizable intensity. Then I got into Lexus' LED world: dim and cold-white, dimming even more when you shift to park, no adjustments, just what Mr. Toyoda thinks is right for you.

I've decided to swap the LEDs throughout the car, starting with the foot well. First color I've tried is amber. In reality is more orange than amber, but it's still MUCH better than the original which only cats can see.

This is the LED on Amazon
Amazon.com: JDM ASTAR 4pcs Super Bright 5630 SMD 194 168 2825 W5W T10 LED Bulbs,Amber Yellow(Best Value in the market): Automotive Amazon.com: JDM ASTAR 4pcs Super Bright 5630 SMD 194 168 2825 W5W T10 LED Bulbs,Amber Yellow(Best Value in the market): Automotive
. I also ordered the same LED in red, just to see which color I like most.

For consistency the pics were taken on 1/40 3.5 ISO 3200. DIY coming later.

Car in park, full intensity.

Car in drive, half intensity.

All that bright light highlights all the little dirt specks and trash on the floor mats...

The thing we always battle here in WI is the salt everywhere, on mats and interiors. It is horrible during the winter, especially when trying to work on customizing lighting interiors and trying to get nice photos afterwards. We can't wait for summer!

I actually love the Lexus white, tho i would prefer it not to dim. Having lights too bright in the interior while driving on dark roads is very dangerous because your eyes adjust to it.

2015, and the map is in night mode.

Yes, the aftermarkets are MUCH brighter than stock. In drive, the stock is all but invisible.

White is too cold me for me, just a subjective thing.

You're right with the eyes adjusting to the brightest available source of light. But they are not so bright in drive, the console it's still the brightest and white on top of that. If they turn out to be too bright for you, that can easily be adjusted using a resistor.
The stock lights were not an option for me. They might as well be missing all together, that's how dim they are when driving.

It looks good. I actually wouldn't mind a blue color foot well. Hurry with the DIY.

I'm not sure why anyone would want their foot wells lit so brightly. You don't need any light at all to see where your feet go. Even in the cleanest of cars the floor mats are going to be the dirtiest part of the car's interior. Maybe you want to show off the aluminum pedals? Is that it?
