are forged wheels worth it? (saving about 8lbs per wheel)
Hi there,
i'm just doing research at this point, but what's the consensus on forged wheels. If i look around i think i would be able to get a set of wheels and then pick up tires for around half the price (say $2200) vs $1400 for non forged but new.
is saving 8lbs per wheel worth $800? i seem to feel it's is...with our ECU's it seems very hard to make any additional power so lightening the wheels seems like a pretty straight forward way to maybe get a slight increase in performance - as well as better handling and looks...
(for example i know on lower hp cars with low tq lighter wheels make a noticeable difference...and on high hp cars the difference isn't really noticeable but the handling increase would be (on both high hp and low hp cars).
anyways...looking for any other thoughts...
thanks!

Saving 32lbs of rotational weight is going to make a decent difference in acceleration, and subsequently gas mileage, and if you like the style of the wheels, it's a win-win situation.

You will be forever greatful when you hit your first pothole and nothing happends. With other types of wheels will bend and cause damage. Forge wheels is that much more stronger. I have forge RCF wheels on my GS too and they are also staggerd too. Makes handling much more better.

I always thought true Forged wheels are way more than $2,200 for a set? I have some Forgestar wheels that are rotary forged. They are 29 lbs for a 22x9" wheel. Looking at the Vossen Forged wheels they look to be about $2k each.
