Just bought my wife a 2013 CPO GS350 AWD and we love it. This is our first Lexus and hope the reliability is much better than our Cadillac CTS we traded it on. As a car guy myself I have always heard this myth about Lexus's having superior reliability and build quality but now we get first hand experience. Hopefully the myth is true! Our Cadillac was a huge disappointment.

This will be my wife's daily driver and I have been so impressed with the car I'm thinking about making a move to Lexus (have a Porsche Cayenne Turbo).

There is a reason that Lexus is rated #1 in Best Car Brand. I think you'll find the #1 rating is correct.

Enjoy!

What he said, our 15 Gs is our 3rd Lexus. All have been flawless so far.

Congrats! That's a beautiful car. I like the color combo of the interior & exterior that you picked out.

I'm sure you'll love the Lexus! Have you had problems with your Porsche? I believe as an overall brand, they also tend to be quite reliable. Just curious.

Congrats on the Lexus! How's the Porsche? I'm curious as I would like to get one in the future. How's the maintenance costs on the Porsche?

Thanks! The Cayenne has been ok reliability wise. By 45k miles it has needed a water pump, valve cover gaskets, and intercooler pipe seals.

That's the nature of a 450 horsepower german car. German cars will never be as reliable as a Japanese car. Anyone who believes so is delusional. Considering the past german cars we have had, this is actually quite good in the grand scheme of "german reliability". However, it's getting tiring to constantly repair my car, hence the possible change to a Lexus for me.

PS: if you think the repair work I have had to do on my Cayenne is bad... don't ever buy a BMW. Those cars bring new meaning to unreliable...

The only bad thing about Lexus is the occasional bad battery. Otherwise, car is flawless. I haven't experienced it in my 2013 but wife has in her 2008 GS twice already (after I year of new battery installed).

Congrats and welcome. 4GS seems to be really reliable as I've seen. Only very few isolated issues posted here. This is my second 4GS and I'm surprised how much I still like this car. I always want to try German but posts like yours really steer me away from the idea.

Lexus has really closed the gap between the Japanese cars and German cars. The F sport really has the same driving dynamics as a BMW or V series Cadillac. You really can have German (BMW) driving dynamics with Japanese reliability now with a Lexus. Infiniti is also getting real close to mimicking German car characteristics but without the reliability issues that are typically associated with them. It seems a lot of manufactures are injecting "BMW" DNA in their cars or at least trying to mimic it. So, if reliability is key a German car is probably not going to be a pleasant experience.

It's amazing how unreliable the Germans are now. I have a '98 M3 Sedan; I recently did a drivetrain swap at 174K miles. Before that, I was still running the original water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, etc etc. The only major components I had to replace were a cat (under emissions warranty) and a radiator (the cooling system is the weak point in these cars). I drive the M3 very hard and the car is bulletproof.

Most of my professional peers are driving leased BMW or Audi; ALL of them have had unexpected overnight loss of the car due to system failures of one kind of another. Sad.

Congratulation on the purchase of your 4GS, nice color by the way. You will indeed enjoy the performance and reliability of the Lexus. I'm on my 3rd Lexus and almost a few times thought about going to Mercedes or BMW and then I read horror stories all over the internet about them. I'm glad I went went with the 4GS and you will too. What options did you get with your GS 350?
