Default Buying a 2013 GS350 awd - What to look out for?

Hi, I am in the market for a used 2013 GS350 awd. Is there anything specific i need to pay special attention to? I read some posting or complaint on car battery drain issue. I will definately bring the car for a pre-purchase inspection.

By the way, how is the awd performing in light snow/ice?

Current unhappy owner of a Acura TLX.

Haven't had any issues with my 13, but it does have easily dented interior aluminum trim on the Fsports. There's a TSB on it. People complained about excessive wind noise coming from mirrors and moonroof.

I'd look into the 14 for the addition of power trunk options, auto fold mirrors, and auto on heat/vent seats.

15's for all the above and newest nav interface including 3d mapping and free lifetime real traffic alerts via HD radio.

Thanks. For the wind noise, do you happen to know if its a specific speed ? or all the time?

The Blind Spot Monitor added Rear Cross Traffic Alert in 2014
You might find a 2013 with Night Vision that was discontinued in 2014...

I have recommend looking out for the following when buying a used, non-CPO or CPO 2013 GS after I got mine a few months back:

-Brakes and Rotors. Make sure there is plenty of life left on the brakes and not excessively rusted/warped rotors. F-Sport brakes and rotors are particularly pricey.

-Wheels: Ensure the car has no vibrations at highway speeds. Sometimes some of the wheels may be slightly out of round. Ask to take a look at the underside of the car. The dealership will not honor many wear and tear items like wheels/tires unless you buy a separate wheel/tire pkg warranty.

-Tires: Ensure there is decent tread left on the tires. The AWDs eat through the tires a bit more. There should be at least 50-60% tread left on the tires. But I would argue that any tires with 60% or less tread shouldn't be sold with a CPO GS.

-Seats: Ensure there isn't any strange leather peeling or excessive wear on the seats, especially the driver's seat. This happened to me and the day I took delivery, I saw the driver seat have some peeling leather and my dealership agreed to fix it.

Good luck and negotiate hard!

Look for corrosion under the hood and in the typical places that northern cars get it. We bought a 13 that was a lease car in NJ and I have found some things that I didn't catch when we bought it. One example is the attachment points for the hood opening struts looks horrible....

I agree with what everyone has said above. Also, any good Lexus dealer should show you the service history on the car. However, if you want to do your research ahead of time, create an account on http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home and input the VIN of any car you are looking at to see the service history. It helped me narrow down the list of vehicles I was interested in pretty good based on things I saw listed.
