Default Dash Camera

Has anyone installed a dash camera on their GS?

I recently bought one and I want to mount it up behind the rear view mirror, but i noticed that when running the power cord over to the side pillar, I get to the side curtain airbag and there isn't a place to tuck the wire into, plus I don't want to cause any blockage to the airbag.

Any suggestions? I wish there was something in the light area I could hook it directly to instead of running a wire all the way down to the plugs. Has someone taken the interior light area apart to see if there are electrical connections in there?

Had someone install mine for $60. Seemed like a bit of a hassle and I didn't want to break anything.

I just installed my dash cam very cleanly.

I did not hard wire the thing cause I sucked at wirings. So instead I just ran the included long power cable along the headliner above the windshield, A pillar, then down to the B pillar under my passenger seat and into the center console where the power plug is located.

On other cars I ran the wire down the B pillar, behind the glove box and into the plug cause most cars have the power plug in the front of the car, under the dash. The GS is weird.

This way I know my wirings will still be 100% OEM untouched and I know my car won't short circuit and catch fire!

You must have had a heck of a long wire to run it all the way to the B pillar. My wire isn't that long.

If anyone has any pictures and procedures on installing to the front dome light or how to run the wire by the airbag on the A pillar, let me know.

Thanks

Would you all kindly share the make/model/price of the dash cams you purchased?

Spent a bit of time doing research on Amazon.. still a bit unsure, but this one is small, works well, has good customer service and isn't one of the really expensive ones. I have it hardwired in front of my rear view mirror. I don't notice it.

You can just follow this thread. Not sure if the pins on the mirror are the same as IS but shouldn't be that much different. Get one of these from ebay for 12v to 5v converter with USB build in and some jumper pins from Amazon.

I was really considering getting the F750 or the X500, but the reviews kind of steered me away. The motion sensor is what I really wanted because not many have them, but ugh too late now.

The lane departure and collision warning systems are great too. But they can get annoying sometimes.

Just pry open the pillar cover, it's just held by clips and slide the wire.
