2013 GS Reliability?
Currently a VW owner, getting tired of reliability issues. I'm considering a '13 GS F-Sport, but wondering how reliable they've proven to be so far? (Especially considering the '13 was a new model year)

Almost bulletproof.
C'mon, it's a LEXUS. Common knowledge by now. Ask a mechanic, not a car salesman or a specific Euro Make Fanboy.
Night and Day from a VW.
I was worried about 2013's still going through "beta testing" because it was a first year model. No worries. Recalls, updates and driver settings were all done under warranty. Besides that, it's been a trouble free ride compared to my experiences with European brands: Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes.

I'm well aware of the Lexus reputation - that's why I'm interested. But never hurts to ask, especially for a first year of a new model!
Looking on TrueDelta.com which rates reliability based on owners feedback, the '13 GS appears to score in the middle of the road within it's class for reliability.
My '12 VW GTI scores about the same, which is a little worrisome.

Just look around the forum, not a lot of issues. Mine was trouble free.
Going to be way more reliable than your VW.

I've had mine since June 2013 and has never been in the shop. I take it in every 5k miles when the idiot lights yell at me. Check engine light came on once, I adjusted the gas cap and it went away.

I traded my 2013 in last week with 27,140 miles. Except for the bizarre dead battery problem (there's a long thread about this) just after I got the car, I had exactly zero reliability or maintenance issues.

Other than a couple recalls and one slightly annoying rattle, mine has been perfect. No major problems at all and runs great.
Edit - 2013, bought in May of 2012, 22k miles

I traded my '13 GS F Sport with just over 20k miles after almost 3 years. Just felt like going back to a coupe. Aside from the aluminum trim denting, I had ZERO issues.

NY roads competely destroyed my right upper control arm. The ball joint was about to fail when I discovered the problem. The left upper control arm is on its way too. UCA's are expensive.

I'm in dutchess county. Roads aren't too bad up here
I plan on just doing springs, but I read these stock shocks don't last too long(even on ones not lowered)...
I wouldn't mind replacing them every 30k or so, as long as the ride is comfy.
I fear coil overs. I've had them on a couple of cars, and just hated them

ZERO ISSUES! Purchased my 2013 GS350 F-Sport on 28 Apr 13 (37K miles today). No problems except the battery was replaced last week due to a fault code during testing (35K mile service). I joined Lexus after a 2007 BMW 530 and 2010 BMW 535 M-Sport... sold/traded both cars prior to reaching 50K miles. BTW, the entire service department and BMW-SA knew me by name .. that isn't good. Oh, I'm not bashing BMWs! They produce some of my favorite cars; however, I'm uneasy with ownership beyond the basic warranty period. I plan to keep my GS (safe/reliable girlfriend) long-term and buy an M3 (bad-bad girlfriend) with a limited shelf life.
