2.0T is a great idea (not for the enthusiast but for the masses). It's going to be priced lower than the V6 and likely lease well as well as yield slightly better fuel economy. Lexus will sell more of the GS line because of this and insure its future. Not sure if folks remember but the 4GS almost axed but Mr. Toyoda pressed for it

But that's one of the things I liked about the GS, not commonly seen on the road like the 5-series, E-class, and A6.

If they lower the lease of the GS200t, it would almost be in ES350 territory. Hopefully they don't raise the GS350 lease...I have a feeling we won't see prices like ours anymore for the GS350.

I've driven the NX200t before, and the 2.0 turbo has literally instant response, a very flattish torque curve, and reasonably good power; only the NX200t's engine smoothness and quietness was poor, especially compared to the C Class' 2.0 turbo.

I hope the GS200t's engine idle, and in particular, the engine smoothness and quietness has drastically improved over the NX200t.

Yes, now we'll see the entry level GS everywhere, just like the IS250 and 528i, everybody has them!

I have driven the NX as a weekend loaner when the GS was in for extended diagnoses at the dealer. I found the engine willing and sufficiently powerful enough for highway and round-town driving, with four adults on-board. Noise and vibration was not an issue for me, ambient temperatures were early spring levels, Let's not forget the GS 350's sound generator, which puts out it's own cabin "intrusions".

Yes I would agree, the 2.0t version will mean more GS models on the road, if there is a $7-8k price moderation.

Any word of the weight difference?

ItzFilyO says the GS200t is actually heavier than the GS350!

I suspect they have to reinforce the block, head, pistons, con rods, and crankshafts etc to withstand the high pressures of turbocharging.
The engine radiator etc is probably bigger too.

Presently, the GS200t is only designed to take on the entry level 528i's etc.
I suspect that in time, Lexus will increase the turbo boost to generate much more power and torque to exceed BM's 528i.

No way it's going to be more than $4k spec for spec. The 350 is gonna start from $48k, and the 200 will start from ~$44k.

The IS200t weights 10 lbs less than the IS350 RWD. I know Car and Driver reported otherwise, but I'd expect it to be close to the IS difference. I'll wait for actual numbers from Lexus before getting worked up over it.

As for sales, I do think the GS200t is brilliant and will definitely help, but I don't think we'll be suddenly seeing the GS around at the same rate as the IS. Even if GS sales doubled and were the approximate equal of the IS, the IS has a head start measured in years. Don't worry guys, you'll be okay.

This thread reminds me a lot of the reaction by 2IS owners when the 3IS was unveiled. All of the "oh it's hideous" and "I'm so glad I didn't wait for that!" comments. Time will ease you into it.

Sorry, I am talking loonies. In Canada, The GS 350 are like the pizzas, all-dressed. It will be interesting to see how the 2.0t's are optioned.

i don't like the 200t on the IS, so i definitely don't like it on the GS

Base sticker price is expected to be mid $30s.

If it starts so low I'm afraid our cars resale value will take another dive. It is already bad as now now.
