Default squeaking noise

I have a squeaking noise coming from my rear driver side tire. I changed my brake pads and one was missing. All it had on there is what looks like a shim. ( pics below )

After finishing the job I drove my car and the noise continues. It's mainly when I'm in reverse. Has any one else had this problem? My car is at 50k miles.

Did you replace the shims or the old hardware for newer hardware all together? Did you also use an anti-squeal compound on the back plate of the brake pads and shim? Did you make sure the brake rotor and pad surfaces were clean? Noise can come from a number of things and these would be the things I recommend looking into. Sometimes the brake compound itself can cause the noise as well and may require some time to break-in.

It's occurs when the car is in motion. There's no noise when I hit the brakes

Does the noise go away when the brake is applied? Have you checked the condition rotors, front and back face, for any signs of abnormal wear? Something is contacting onto something and we gotta investigate what that would be. You could put the vehicle on jacks in the rear and spin the wheel to get a better idea.

OK I'll give that a try. When I removed my brake pads from the car there wasn't a pad on the back side of the rotor. Maybe it grind away on the rotor to the point it needs a replacement.

That's a possibility. Send photos and we'll see what's going on there.
