No, I think there is more to detuning it than just ECU reflash, like maybe the non direct injected version of the 2GR engine. Maybe they'll put the 2GR-FE version from the Camry/ES350 instead of our 2GR-FSE DI engine.
The 2GR-FE only makes 268HP compared to our 306HP. But it still quick as hell, that engine still hauls ***. I had it on my old Camry and since the IS is smaller it'll pull even quicker.

I was looking at the product info sheet on the 2016 IS.
For the IS300, it lists the Fuel System as "Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI, D-4S)".
For the IS350, it lists the Fuel System as "Stoichiometric direct-to-cylinder injection system (plus secondary port injectors)".
In the 2015 GS spec sheet, it lists the Fuel System as "Direct & Sequential Port Injection (D-4S)".
My confusion stems from my understanding that D-4S is the direct injection plus secondary port injectors system. I think it might all be the same, but Toyota has been inconsistent in how they describe it.
Back to the GS update, I'm still hopeful for a '16 update. They only released details of the '16 CT200h yesterday, with it's updated grill/front end and rear fascia. Hopefully GS info will come soon.

Any pics of the new CT? I keep reading about it getting a new front grille but they only show pics of the sides.

Is the IS300AWD's 3.5 based off the RX's? Then detuned a few horses so as to not complete directly with the IS350?

Can you attach the link that says the IS300AWD has D-4S? I see from the press release that the IS200t has D-4ST and that the IS300AWD has a modified version of a 3.5 making 255 hp/236 lb-ft only.

Look at "Fuel System" in the "Engine" section.
The IS300's 3.5 carries the same designation as the 3.5 in the IS350 (2GR-FSE), so it is an IS350 engine, but with some changes. The 2GR-FSE is related to the 3.5 in the RX (2GR-FE), but the 2GR-FE lacks the direct injection system, and is configured in a FWD layout, among other smaller changes.

What did they do to neuter the motor?

Geez, I'm surprized the IS200t is only 10 lbs lighter than the IS350 3.5L V6.

If it's using the same 2GR-FSE motor it will only be a matter of time before someone finds a way to retune it and get the full performance of an IS 350 for the price of IS 300.

And I still wonder if the GS will go the same route. If we see a RWD GS200t, will we also see an AWD GS300?

Oh I hope the GS stays in 350 or 400 and not getting a 4 cyl. But the 528i BMW has a 4 cyl too.
Based on this commercial it would be a damn shame if they put a 4 cyl on the GS.

I have no problem with a base model 4cyl GS. I drove the 2.0T CTS and liked the motor a lot.

It's just embarrassing that they were making fun of the Bimmer's 4 cyl in their ad and now they're going to put one on the GS.
