Default Used 2013 GS 350 AWD Reliability

Hello everyone, I'm new here and have been posting in a thread here:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...ml#post9101776

One of my questions was how reliable is a used 2013 GS 350 AWD with anywhere from 12-25k miles assuming the driver took decent care of it and it was never in an accident. I forgot where I read it but I heard that awd gs are not that reliable? Any input would be appreciated!! Thank you and I'm loving the forums so far!

I bought my '13 AWD F Sport with 20k on it and the only problem I have had was the driver side mirror dying on me and the brake squeal issue both were fixed under warranty and neither problem was AWD exclusive. I have nearly 50k on her now with no issues.

The AWD is just as reliable as the RWD, Lexus has been using the same AWD system for many years.

MPG? Lol I'm probably not the best example but I'm around 14mpg being a very aggressive city driver. If I relax a little on the highway easily 28-30mpg. I've improved a little since I've been driving more carefully with my new wheels around 16mpg

My 2013 AWD returns on average 21mpg. Highway trips can get up to 24-25. I always use 0 ethanol 91 octane, and typically turn off the AC unless it is necessary. I leave the car in "Normal" mode, as i cant stand the slow throttle response of ECO mode.
Winter time it's about 19mpg because of the cold, cold weather.

Greg, your winter mileage is probably thanks to winter blend fuels, they don't have as much punch and use additives that provide volatility. Winter gas is generally worse gas.

Recently purchased a '13 CPO GS350. Car is excellent, no complaints, no major issues with 46kmiles.

LexusFan93 -- There is some good commentary in the following thread on this same topic: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ngevity-2.html

I agree that a small part of it is the winter gas, but using winter gas (when it warms up, we sometimes get 70 deg weather for a few days after 25-30 deg weather) the mpg improves significantly. I find the longer the engine warm up the worse the mpg. Also, since the air is denser when cold, it requires more fuel to hit 14.7:1 air fuel ratio therefore it uses more fuel. The winter gas plays a small role with this, but the biggest hits is the temperature/warm up.

I up grated to my 2013 AWD GS last Nov.It was used CPO with 10K miles. It has been flawless to date, except
for the runoff that tapped my drivers door -now with a dent that makes me cry-while it was parked in the far side of the parking lot. I traded my 08 GS on this 13 and that was a great performer with 75K miles. Only issues on my 08 were squeeky windshield in winter months and front brake squeall which I finally corrected with new brake pads-and than I traded it..

Brought my 13 GS350 in August of last year with 8500 mile on it. Beside the little click noise in the seatbelt adjustment it's been rock solid. I average about 16mpg city and 23 highway I drive a little on the fast side.

Just bought a CPO '13 awd with 48K on it for the wife. She had a maxima with a cvt transmission in it which I hated (the trans) After it's 3rd transmission at 140K miles it just went to the daughter in college. Wife wanted a '16 maxima and I talked her out of it. We looked at a few other cars and I kept pushing the GS, even though I had never driven one, much less owned on. The one at the dealer had more mileage than I wanted but the wife jumped in after we drove it and made them and offer and, well, what are you going to do then?? lol.. Hope it is as reliable as an anvil or I am never going to hear the end of it for talking her out of a '16 with no miles.....

Purchased a '13 CPO AWD in April '14 with 24K miles. Now at 42K and only issue was recall on front passenger seat fixed under warranty. Average 21mpg. 25-26mpg on highway. 17-18mpg in city driving.

I have a 13 F-Sport AWD. It has 28k mikes, and I am in my third battery already, dealer says no issue with draw or charging system. This seems to be the most common problem on the GS, several others here have had the same issue.

Front passenger caliper also had to be replaced, the inboard Pistons seized. Front pads lasted about 25k miles. The city MPG is pretty horrible, about the same as a full size truck with a V8, I am lucky to get 15-16mpg in the city. It does much better on the highway though, have averaged 23-24mpg there.
