I'll be in the market for a 4GS, once the 5th gen comes out and the the price drops out
That's the exact same reason I decided to make this thread

What is brake assist? Is that an option?

Thanks.

Remaining questions that need answers:

If the car has Lane Keep Assist, does that mean it has Departure Warning System?

If the car has Radar Cruise Control, does it mean it also has Pre-Crash Sys w/Pre-Brake and Driver's Eye Monitor?

Hube mentioned "Brake Assist". Is that an option? If so, what does it do and how to identify?

I asked Stormforge who is the OP of the FAQ thread, but he hasn't done it. Not sure if he will. If some of you PM him, maybe he'll add it.

My car has radar cruise control + the pre-collision system w/ eye monitor. To be honest, I don't know if you can order each one separately.

Brake Assist is standard on all Toyota/Lexus models but isn't a visible feature. Brake Assist detects a panic stop and will pre-load the brakes to help apply additional brake pressure if needed. Think: little old lady that isn't strong enough to slam on the brakes all the way to engage ABS to avoid an accident.

To add additional details to this: note the boots on either side. I have an AWD F-Sport with what appears to be a unit similar. However, all arms connecting the wheel assembly are static so it definitely does not have rear-wheel steering, and the unit has hoses connected instead of steering rods. Not sure what it is though.

Rear-wheel steering:

LDW gives you the alert if you drift out of your lane; LKA is what gives you that little"nudge" to help you stay in your lane. Cruise has to be set for LKA to do anything. The features come together, and use the same camera (near the rear-view mirror).

As to the PCS, the driver eye monitor above the steering column and radar system are components of the same system that monitors the distance to the vehicle ahead and where the driver is looking. Based on inputs from these sensors, it determines how fast the car should be going, or if breaking is necessary, or if the an alert should be sent to the driver, or if the car should be prepared for a collision. This is a single system, so it's all one option. The pre-collision part is on, even if the cruise control is not on, though there is a switch to disable PCS.

On a different note (earlier post), about the rear seat heater controls, the luxury package is available with the rear seat heaters, or without - about $450 difference, IIRC. At least that was the case in my model year. As you can see from my signature block, I got just about all the options, except the ML and the HUD - I ordered, and waited 4 months for the car.
