Default K&N intake ?

So I was looking at getting some K&N filters for the car and noticed that they have listed their air intake with the free flowing tube. They are saying that it increases horse power by 12.6. Does anyone have this and is there any actual noticeable change in either sound or power delivery ?

I'm very curious about it too. Will it decrease the mpg? Will it void the factory warranty?
What are the pros and cons about it?

You're def not going to see a 12 hp increase... You'll actually have less intake noise too since this tube deletes the intake noise generator that is on the stock intake.

Waste of money. Without changing the factory air-box you are limited air flow. The stock filter is already pretty well designed. I doubt the K&N is going to show any notable improvement.

That 12.6 horsepower gain is not anywhere near accurate...and they know it! I know, I know - I saw the graph with times, temperatures, humidity levels, etc. I'm suggesting that if that test was first run with the K&N filter (instead of the OEM filter) that particular test could have just as easily shown the K&N filter to have a loss of 12.6 horsepower. In fact, I dare say that if they had run both tests with the same exact filter in each test (either the OEM filter or the K&N filter), the results could have easily produced the same 12.6 horsepower difference.

I bought a complete intake set up threw AFE.. tubing and airfilter. The sound is amazing, better throttle response. It says it has a 13.5hp gain.

Is the intake different on the F-Sport than the other base and luxury models?

No - all GS 350s have the exact same intake air box and filter...

Guys please, ur not going to get any HP from this, all that feel is just in ur head. We've been down this road many times before, all it does is make the engine bay look nicer.

The Takeda will make it sound louder but the K&N will actually make it quieter.

Matics where does that hole under the filter lead to? It looks like the fender well? If there is a factory hole there then a cold air intake is possible. Its giving me some ideas. I will need to look into it.

The takada's weakness is in the filter size. If you fit a larger surface area filter you may get a performance gain when at speed as cool air is being rammed in through the stock snorkel.

I'll check when I get home, I believe it does run into the fender. And I was thinking the same thing about the size of the filter, there's plenty of room I think for a bigger filter.

Simple logic - if it is allowing more air in, then it is allowing more dirt in too which will eventually hurt your engine. I wouldn't do it.

Would it be beneficial to get an intake like taketa and get a shop to weld for the sound generator?

Only if you want to keep the sound generator working. No performance benefits.
