Placing the Lexus turbo 4 in the GS would result in a boring car to drive in my opinion. Both the NX and GS cars weigh about the same, just shy of 4,000lbs and the NX needs 7 seconds 0-60 and still only gets 22mpg city and 28 highway which is about the same as the RWD GS.

I think Toyota / Lexus just need to suck it up and build a 3.0 liter turbo V6 like everyone else or at least a higher output inline 4 turbo to put out some decent acceleration numbers in the low 6 seconds.

BMW is doing it right, a medium output turbo 4 (actual output is over the claimed 240hp, more like 265ish), and a 300hp V6 (again it puts out more). The turbo 4 BMW 528 xdrive is rated at 33mpg on the highway! I am lucky to get 24 in my GS!

You'd be lucky to get 28 in a 328x despite the ratings, and you'd likely forget about what milage you get in the Beemer because of how many days you'll spend driving one of their loaners while your car is repaired.

Not unusual for me. I had a 1400 mile trip (round trip) and on one or two long stretches between tanks, I got 28 on 91 or 93 unleaded. That's passing people and running anywhere from 75-85mph on cruise when not frustrated with packs of slow cars. 6th gear is magic even if the cruise control loses a few mph on every hill.
