Hah! I knew they wouldn't go for it from the start. Let the Koreans (Hyundai and KIA) step up first and competition will make them change their mind and do something about it. Kinda like the backup camera and navi now available standard on a nearly base model car. Back then u would have to get the top loaded trim to get nav and backup cam.

Shame. I was always told by the Lexus People that the 2016 would have the Car Play which is a step above Siri Heads up. I think Lexus cannot do Apple and Google applications at the same time in their hardware. I have a 2013 GS and waited for the 2016 GS for this reason. I guess Siri is better than what I have now in the 2013. Lexus is being too conservative in its Pursuit of Perfection.

If you think about, Lexus Remote Touch would probably work best with Apple CarPlay because of how you can move the cursor on the screen to the icon you want. It's the closest to touchscreen without touching the screen. The German manufacturers all use a ****-like controller which will require you to scroll through all the icons to get to the one you want. It would probably require more programming.

The part that really irks me is that, if you read the comments here and on MacRumors, the ratio of unfavorable responses to favorables responses is approximately 1,000,000 : 1, plus or minus 1.
I have not read a single comment by an actual customer that's in favor of this decision.
Way to listen to your customers, Toyota.

An interesting quote from a Ford executive about Apple car play.
Ford CTO Raj Nair explained that the company doesn't want people making car choices based on their smartphones.
I can see Ford's point of view here. For example- Honda's Accord infotainment system used Android OS and Toyota's Camry used IOS. But there is no way any that
automakers cannot integrate smartphones OS( Android and IOS) in future year models.
