Default Would you buy CPO long distance?

So I have been looking for a CPO Black GS F-Sport RWD for under $40K and unfortunately have not seen any in the past year in my area (Oregon). Getting a bit impatient and I'm noticing there are a lot in the middle of the nation and east cost. What are your opinions on purchasing CPO from a Lexus dealership long distance without having seen the car? I asked my local dealership and they said they don't facilitate transfers between dealerships. I'm guessing I could convince a dealership to at least ship a vehicle to me.

personally i simply won't buy a car unless i am able to see it in person and also test drive it. i don't care if the car is cpo, fact is even if something is cpo, it can still have been in accident and there could be things here and there minor) that will bug you for years to come.

in my experience, the closest i have come would be my nsx. car was 400 miles away and schedule didn't allow more time. still i had my close friend inspected and drove the car for me, had the car go through detail ppi by reputable mechanic, and then i flew up to inspect the car again in person before i handed over the cashier check

I didn't think Lexus could CPO a car which had been in a wreck? I guess all bets are off if they don't know it has been in an accident. But that 161 point inspection they tout should check for everything, even accident damage, right?

I believe a Lexus CPO vehicle can have no more than 3 or 4 panels replaced and/or repaired, which includes painting. I think this is the same requirement for a Toyota CPO vehicle. BMW's CPO requirement is the same or very similar to Lexus.

Note: I suspect many Lexus dealerships would not elect to make some vehicles involved in an accident a CPO vehicle unless the damage was very minor.

Many CPO cars are lease returns and you know how some rentals and leased cars are treated. Not a risk I would be willing to take.

Find a way to go look at it, or have a trusted friend go for you flights are fairly cheap ins.for a purchase of this magnitude, otherwise beware. Their opinion of light/no scratches "WILL" be different than yours. Many trucking companies available such as Intercity Lines which I have used, and offer a discount quote if you are a rennlist.com member, also Reliable Carriers, these two carriers use enclosed trailers and all they do is transport vehicles. There are others. It is easy to arrange your own shipping except in the North west for some reason. They will off load on the street right at your home if possible or a nearby mall parking lot or the like.

It's funny that this tread came up because I just did this last week. I couldn't find a CPO F sport that matched what I wanted so I found one online that was three states away. I chose to drive a rental 300 miles there and drive the new car back. Like someone else said, I wouldn't want to buy a car site unseen. I did all negotiations over the phone and placed a deposite, it was probably the easiest car purchase I ever made. I would check cars.com to find something within driving distance it is definitely worth it to get something you will be happy with. Good luck.
