Mine looks the same underneath, I don't really care since I have to put my whole head in the trunk to see it...why would I ever do that?

Although it reminds me of my mom's 60s Buick Skylark, it's not the trunk mechanism's aesthetics I have a problem with. It's the damn lid cracking me on the head because it's too flimsy to stand up to a light breeze that I don't care for.

Mine looks like that and doesn't crack me in the dead. It stands up no problem in wind, breeze, etc.

Can't see it, so I don't care what it reminds me of. I'm sure if I looked up under the dashboard I'm sure it would look unfinished. But, why would I do that?

Just out of curiosity, what is your VIN? Mine is JTHBE1BL6D5025483. Perhaps there was a change mid-year.

The TSB did seem to change the torsion springs as well as the rubber cushions in the trunk lid. Although your vin doesn’t seem to fall into the tsb range, I wonder if you could simply compare the rubber cushions on your car to a current model to see if yours was built with the older components?
Seems like it may be overkill to get a new car just because the trunk springs are a bit light…
