Default My "new" GS450h - purchased by an average guy

Hi all,

So I'm just your average, everyday hard working young guy that finally saved himself enough money to purchase the car of his dreams - a slightly used (6K miles) 2013 Lexus GS450h that's practically fully loaded. The hybrid version is quite rare and there weren't any 2013+ models for sale in Texas (especially with the options that I wanted), so I had to get this baby shipped from California.

I may not be similar to the majority of individuals here in the sense that I'm not someone who buys cars brand new. I usually save up for a while/do lots of homework (check my post history here - that was all before even owning a Lexus, lol!) and buy slightly used, quality cars. I also generally keep my cars for many, many years.

I'm coming from a 2004 Honda Civic with about 130K miles that I had bought slightly used more than 8 years ago, so as you can tell, this is a MAJOR upgrade for me. You can see the back of my old silver/gray Honda Civic in one of the pictures below. I knew that I really wanted a Lexus as my next car and I finally decided which model would suit my needs the best.

Very glad that I convinced myself to choose the GS over the IS (sorry, no hate - I still think the IS350 F-Sport is beautiful). I just wanted all the luxury without having to compromise other things. Anyway, enough of my rant. Hope you enjoy the pictures below!

Congrats! Wish you many miles of happy driving. Thats quite an upgrade from the Civic!

I think you'll be surprised, lots of people here have bought them used and are just "ordinary folks" too. Not me of course, I'm extraordinary

Thank you ALL for the kind words & love! It truly means a lot.

This was definitely a BIG purchase for me and I thought multiple times if it was going to be a smart decision, but I was honestly ready for a change in my life. My Honda Civic is still a great car that gave me literally 0 problems (no huge maintenance besides the typical oil changes, tire changes, break pads, etc). In a new car, I didn't want maintenance to be a large expense or issue.. the less time that the car is in the shop.. the more I get to enjoy it! Hence why I only considered Lexus vs the luxury brand competition for a car that I intend to own MANY years (8+ similar to my Civic).

@SW13GS - thank you and I'm sure you're quite extraordinary sir! I know your posts help out many individuals and you even helped me out when I was researching on the headlamps I hope you & others didn't take offense to my "average"/"ordinary" words used. I guess having been on CL for a while now and reading many topics, it seemed like most people were buying their 4G GS and 3G IS cars brand new. Naturally with these models being so new, most of the topics are about leasing/buying the car new from a dealership I just always knew that I wanted to buy a slightly used car for long term ownership.

@praetor - wow my friend! And here I was thinking that I owned my one & only Honda for way too long, lol. That's great to hear though! My parents own a Toyota Camry Hybrid and it's been rock solid - a very practical car that gives amazing gas mileage (around 37 mpg mixed). My Dad jokingly "compares" his Camry to my new Lexus by saying things like.. "Does your Lexus have a steering wheel?" "So does my Camry!" "Does your Lexus have push button start?" "So does my Camry!" lol.

All the best,

~ Im2bz2p345

Congratulations on the new-to-you 450h! You're certainly correct; they are a rare breed. I believe I've only seen one in the DFW area out in the wild.

Congrats on the new ride !
A very nice choice indeed! And if your anywhere near as happy with your 450h as I am with my GS350, you'll have a smile on your face for a while

And hey there are lots of us average guys that work our butts off so we can buy the ride we want
Heck I came from a 2005 Acura TL that only has 80,000 miles on it But it was time for a new ride so I spent a few months test driving and vacillating, before I finally decided and pulled the trigger.

I find it a lot harder to buy a new vehicle when you've saved up the cash to buy, as opposed to financing.
Something about seeing the savings account growing, growing then do I really want to see it drop after all that effort lol

Have fun driving that fine vehicle
