Maybe you can look at your new part(s) and get an idea if there are release clips (and exactly where they are located) that may need to be activated.

I believe the GS 350 console is probably removed in the same way as this video describes the console is removed on the IS 250/350. But it's just a guess...

If its anything like the 2IS the side pieces (leather) lift up and are held in by clips. Then put the car in neutral, open the center console and it should lift right out with a little tug.

both leather pannels to the left and right of the center conslole are just hooked in place. Hold the side that you want to remove grasp from the bottom of the end closest to the console box and pull upwards, and push forward(in the direction of your dashboard) and they would both come off. Open the console box to expose the edge of the console that passed under the the console box lid. Now remove the (2) two screws on the (left side of the console and then the right side). With the console box open hold on to the edge and pull up( easily because the 12v power wire is still connected to the underside of the center console. You may notice the frame around the radio may pop out a little during this. It's not a problem because that snaps back in place as well. When you are putting everything back together make sure you open the glove box so that you can properly hook those side pieces back together, and then push the radio trim back in and you're done. A note of caution would be to cover the console with some kind of cloth during removal so that the pieces are not scratched. I had to do all of this this because I took the remote power source for my amp from that 12v source under the console. Hope it helps . about 10 to 15 minutes of work. I did it without any instruction and I was surprised at how easy it was to remove.

Be careful with those side garnish pieces, and try not to break any clips or damage it - I think the price is around $140 each.
