Default Question about auto door lock

I RTFM and did not find it anything about auto locking. I am unsure if it was one of the many other cars I test drove but I thought this car would auto lock when you walk away from it without having to touch the sensor on the door handle. Have I overlooked the setting for this?

Thanks

Nope, not an option. Only auto lock function is when you unlock the car and not open any doors the car will re-lock itself after a given amount of time (most likely 30 secs).

I'second that: no autolock and it's not a customization option either.

I don't see it on the Carista app either.

It's in the cars settings you can change yourself using the "mouse"

I turned mine off since I don't like the fact if I'm too close the car unlocks if it's in the garage and I'm inside in a room close to it.

Wait what? The car doesn't unlock unless you grab the handle.

Sorry I meant to say the I'm not far enough away from the car for it to auto lock by distance.

However I also thought it auto unlocked when you were close?

The car doesn't auto lock or unlock by itself, it unlocks by grabbing the door handles and u have to lock it manually by tapping the ridges on the door handle or by pressing the remote.

However, it does auto lock if u unlock and don't open any doors.

Isn't that how it works? Cause mine is like that... Is mine defective?!

You guys are right for some reason I thought the gs350 has passive locking and unlocking. It doesn't.

Correct, there's no option to lock automatically when you walk away. I guess they did it to prevent you from locking your kids inside accidentally or something.

The only setting that can be turned on or off (incl. with Carista) is whether to re-lock the doors if they were already locked, then you unlocked them, but didn't open a door or trunk within a certain timeout. That way the car knows there's no one inside the car, so it's safe to re-lock.

And of course the other (unrelated) auto-lock setting is for whether or not to lock when the car starts moving or is put in gear. But that's a different use case.

When approaching with a key fob, but not touching, a locked car will turn on its "puddle lamps" on the bottom of the rearview mirrors. Does not unlock unless you reach through a dorr handle.

Yup. THAT one is configurable in Carista.
