I had an interesting conversation with a Lexus guy about this. Automakers have traditionally supported things like map database updates, and bug fixes, but to get enhanced functionality, they'd like you to buy a new car. The iPhone changed that paradigm, and so has Tesla.
There are hardware differences from year to year, but that does not preclude Lexus from adding new functionality to older models. Part of it is marketing strategy, part of it is technical effort in creating new firmware builds for each hardware version, and part of it is the distribution mechanism. Ideally they want to get to over the air upgrades.
Bottom line, no announcement of an available upgrade for previous model years.

Only the RC and NX have been announced for Lexus RTI w/ touchpad for 2015. It's coming to the model line, question is when.
I did see a pre-production GS with the touchpad, but it was in the existing location, replacing the mouse. That's not how they're gonna do it in production. If you look at the RC and NX, they've moved things around to put the RTI w/ touchpad closer to the driver and moved the drive mode select switch up and over where the mouse is on the current GS.

Lexus better gives GS 2015 the touchpad or sales will dive... I hate the controller as it is and will trade up or away if Canada doesn't start getting some good extras. How about GSF sport with parking assist, two tone Collection seats and touchpad.....Hear me Lexus Canada? My 2009 is better technology than my 2013.

Are they adding the '82 Celica to this package as well? It has the black mirrors and door handles. It would fit right in with the Lexus "80's Economy Car Look Special Edition" models. Maybe they could also add some black door guards as well and complete the look?

Black mirrors and door handles were used in base model cars some time ago. The color keyed ones are available as an option on the higher end models.
My old base 2K Corolla had black mirrors and door handles. Now Lexus is going back to that look.. Sure they have different shades of black but still!!!
Might as well put hubcaps on it.

Yes, I thought of the Corolla as well but just wasn't sure which year it was. Like this one? Yes, nothing like copying the feel of a decades old economy car.
Or we can give them the benefit of a doubt and assume they were going for the sporty look a la Pontiac Fiero.

Can't we just remove that square part and replace it with the new one? That thing is removable right? I remember someone changed his cause of scuffs.

Not a fan of black door handles and mirrors coz it look too cheap as basic model. GS350 F-Sport should add black colour on top on white exterior. Do you understand?
