Front headrest adjustment on Luxury Package

I doubt the headrests are different on the 2014 than they are on the 2013. Mine on my 2013 didn't want to move when I tried yesterday...but obviously they are movable on the 2013. You're just not pushing hard enough.

On the luxury the wings of the headrest angle in, not on the F Sport.

Yep, upon further review, and more pictures posted, I stand corrected. It appears to not be an issue of the year. It looks like the real distinction is premium headrests lack wings but have horizontal adjustment. Luxury lacks horizontal adjustment but has adjustable wings. Looking at the bottom of the ones with horizontal adjustment, they clearly have room to move horizontally and the leather on the front folds further underneath.. The ones with wings don't.

If they are in the forward position, they are hard to release to the back position. Just grab the top part with both hands and jerk a little to the front and they should release.

Looking at jkeller's pictures, it appears that the distance from the posts to the front of the headrest/wings is the same in both pictures. So in the first picture, it actually looks like the body/base of the headrest has actually gone back away from the wings and posts. But the wings portion which your head rests against is stationary relative to the posts.. Hopefully jkeller came chime in on that. Does it seem like the posts and front of the headrest don't move relative to one another?
With regards, to Tom450's I am guessing he has a premium, not a luxury thus no wings. Is that accurate, tom?
Also, looking at that page from the car manual, doesn't it look like the picture of the headrest which moves horizontally is one solid piece and doesn't have the wing's portion?
(BTW, often times it is very difficult to assess a person's tone or demeanor on message boards like this and I just want to mention how refreshingly civil this thread is. With folks submitting pictures/videos, etc. )

I have a 2014 GS350 RWD luxury package with 18 way seats. I went out to my car and tried to adjust horizontaly like other people but at first try I could not get it to move. Then I took the head rest off and tried again.
I works! You have to really use alot of force to adjust them. Maby lexus made it this way to help prevent the headrest from getting loose during an accident. You literally have to push and pull it like your going to destroy it.
After a few successful attempts of adjusting the head rest it seems to have made it breakin to the point where not as much force is needed to adjust.
The head rest adjust in 3 forward positions and on the 4th push will revert back to farthest back position.

It looks to me that the NON lux headrests move horizontally forwards and backwards more than lux package headrests. If you look at mine there is just a small area inside the oval for movement. Again I could not adjust when it was on my seat, I had to remove it and pull hard. Just now I tried to move it horizontally while attached to the seat back and couldn't. But the head rest wings do move quite easily.

Mine can easily go to position 1-3, but to go back to the basic (zero) position I need to pull it with both hands with quite a bit of force.

I'm really wondering if the luxury headrests move horizontally at all now. Do you guys think you are activating the anti-whiplash function built into the headrests during a collision? It shouldn't be this difficult to move them if the function is there.
