What is the parking assist's "height"
Is there a set height of an object where the parking assist will ding? I notice it doesn't ding for standard parking bumpers, but if there's a curb or high bumper that is the height that would damage your bumper will it go off then? Is that how it's designed?
If so then am I safe to assume that when our cars are lowered the sensors are lowered and alert to your new conflict height?

Parking assist will not detect parking curbs. They are only used to detect objects higher than the curb. I think they detect objects a foot of the ground. I am not sure what the height limit. My car is dropped and it does not detect curbs...

I scoffed at back-up sensors/cameras when first introduced... 'learn to park', i said. Now i say bring it on...PCS/BSM/Rear Camera/Lane Assist, and any other 'safety' innovation. I'm 100% on board for the peace of mind it provides. That said, i'd kill for the peace of mind that front and side curb sensors (new-age 'curb feelers') would give me.

Car manufactuers should include a front parking camera so we can park the car without worry about curbs. I am a great parker and I park my car based on feel and never hit a curb. Thats a whole other story about my wife though. Thats why I wont let her drive my car. She can stick to her RX350.

Anyone ever thought about buying another sensor and drilling a small hole and tapping the wire to existing sensors. I bet you just need one on the lower from of the bumper.

EDIT
Apparently they do exist, sounds like they're used more in robotic situations.......from wikipedia:
"Curb feelers based on optical technology are designed to function the same way but work in the proximity of an obstruction rather than having to come into physical contact with it. As described by one United States patent:
An electronic curb feeler system uses two pairs of optical sensor units to detect an object located near the front end of a vehicle during parking. One pair of optical sensor units detects an object directly in front of a left portion of the front end of the vehicle while another pair of optical sensors detects an object directly in front of a right portion of the front end of the vehicle. By supplying the operator of the vehicle with the location of the object as well as the exact distance the object is from the front end of the vehicle the operator can avoid hitting the object while parking very close to the object.
Devices such as this, and simpler electronic devices similar to the original wire curb feelers used on cars, are used in the design of various mobile robotic devices. One robotics company that does work for the United States Department of Defense uses laser-assisted curb feeler technology."

How is the lip attached?Gotta’ get one, even though it’s sort of closing the barn door after the horse gets out.
