Default 2015 Camry XSE - very GS 350 Lexus-ish

Saw some news about the 2015 Camry XSE....looks very Lexus-ish

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...irst-look.html

Ideas / Comments ? Spend money on GS 350 or go with the new '15 XSE ? Why, etc ? The XSE is not your grand-dad's Camry (altho the name, Camry, still is....) and with some aftermarket wheels I bet it would look good. Engine may be same or close twin to Lexus engine. Both are 3.5 V6 engines.

THANKS

The back looks like an ES to me.

And yes a Camry can look good with some mods but it is still a Camry (AKA: Grand-dad's car).

This is what mine used to look like and after one test drive in the GS I'm sold!

Indeed, maybe more ES looks

Not sure the "strategy" of Toyota on this re-design, this may dilute some of the Lexus sales

I've always thought that the Camry and ES are on the same chasis. Hell, they're moving production of the ES to Georgetown, KY...where the Camry is built....

They used to share the same chassis, but now I think the ES is using the Avalon's.

I think that the outer design change definitely includes some Lexus-like elements but inside the vehicle it still feels like a Camry. Sitting in the 2015 Camry felt no different to me than sitting in the 2012 Camry when it came out. I can see the differences and how they made everything a little nicer than before but it still isn't a car I'd consider. Plus I REALLY don't like the front bumper. It looks too much like the Corolla which I also don't like.

The Avalon is the Toyota that is most likely to steal away Lexus ES buyers. I like the interior much better than the Camry's and it has a much more elegant feel to it. The Avalon is the next step to an ES (and also uses the same chassis). If I didn't make as much money as I currently do, I'd consider the Avalon (if they'd change the front bumper on it as well).

The engine is the Camry has less horsepower and torque.
It is the same V6 used in the Avalon and ES.

+1 I don't see the resemblance either. Maybe the front in a small way but with that front I can only picture the corolla.

This was an idiotic move by Toyota.

They should go out of their way to develop 2 Totaly Separate design strategies for Toyota/Lexus.

Lexus has spent lots of marketing $$$$ on the whole "New Face" of Lexus - the Spindle Grill. Although it may be controversial, it has proven to be a success especially with the popularity of the Fsport models.

To have Toyota put that key styling characteristic on the Camry of all cars is just poor judgement and lack of vision.
Is Toyota that short on ideas????

This is what you get when an ES goes to sleep with an Avalon in Vegas.

I always find it interesting when people imply that a design theme is the reason a car is successful. Lot's of cars are successful in spite of design elements, not because of the design element. BMW's "Bangle" generation of cars is a good example.

I am not as put off by the design of the Lexus front end as I'm put off by the fact that it is not consistent with the design of the rest of the car. But either way, I still bought one and I like the car.

Here is the 2013 Toyota Crown. That to me looks more like the Lexus GS
