Default Extended warranty for 2013 GS F Sport

Hello members. I'm searching for an extended warranty. Any recommendations or referrals for a dealership that can call me or I can call them.

I have this quote so far:

7yr or 100,000 miles for $2545
8yr or 100,000 miles for $2995

These are new car warranties and you can add $25,000 miles to either for an additional $495.

Thanks,
Ernie

Why?
Lexus is so reliable you will waste your money buying an extended warranty.
Look at this forum, do you see a lot of reliability issues/complaints?

You only do this for Euro makes that are close to finishing up their initial 50k mile warranties. Even until then, the extended warranties aren't as good as the factory issued ones. You have to read the fine print and most of the time it isn't worth it.

+1 it's a Lexus, it's like buying a "club" for your steering wheel when you've already got a car alarm.

Overkill.

I'm well aware that this is a lexus site. I will stress I have never had any experience with lexus until my wife started leasing them about 3 years ago and as of last month am currently a owner myself.

That's a tricky topic about extended warranties because as you guys said the cars are reliable. But I def like to have coverage for as long as I'm paying a car note.

I owned 4 acura's as we all know Honda is a pretty reliable company also. 2 out of my 4 acura's were total nightmares. I owned 3 acura TL' s and a ZDX which I just traded in.

My second TL which was a 06 I purchased CPO with 25k on the dash traded it in at 50k between 40k -50k the car stayed in the shop. My ZDX was also purchased CPO with 13k on the dash I recently traded it in for my GS . The car had 40k when I traded it in. That vehicle had been in at 20k miles for torque convertor replacement, at 39k for the cruise control that stopped working then 40k for belts. I think at those mileage intervals the work that needed to be done was unexceptable especially for the brand. I stayed away from German cars for those reasons.

My wife had an ES and currently an RX . I can honestly say she has been in for nothing other than reg scheduled maintenance .

All that to say I would just hate to be the one that doesn't have the warranty and actually need it because repairs are not that cheap if something big does goes wrong.

There are some other threads about this. There are a few dealers in other parts of the country that sell them for much less than most dealers offer. I got a quote from someone, I think in Massachusetts, based on this, showed it to my dealer and they dropped their price to compete, so I just bought from them. Probably won't need it, but it didn't' cost that much so I felt OK about it.

I agree - electronic parts on the car are just so expensive to replace - a Lexus backed warranty is not a bad idea.

I had received quotes from a couple of people (Toyota Dealerships - that sell the Original Lexus Warranty - not a third party warranty)
Lexus Platinum Program for 7 yrs / 75,000 miles w/ $0 deductible for $1370.00, the 7 yr / 100,000 mile plan for
$1730.00, or the 8 yr / 100,000 mile plan for $2075.00 on the GS350

You can search the web for Troy Dietrich (he is the sales person with a Toyota dealership). There are a couple of other folks who are volume sellers too. Just make sure that you get a Lexus backed warranty.

If I keep the GS, I'll buy a warranty from Troy Dietrich.
Nav replacement is $10418.90 + labor and there's plenty of other expensive repairs.
Peace of mind.

There's no way nav replacement is $10,000! That's a dealer feeding you BS so you buy the extended warranty.

To each his own, but ext warranty on a Lexus is wasted money. Especially if you have had the car since new and have taken care of it.

And as islandbeef said, if you don't read the fine print EVER SO CLEARLY, you will often find that the extended warranty does not cover what has failed.

If you really are worried, take the extended warranty cost and invest it. Use the funds if you need them. You'll find that you don't.

It is possible that you won't use the warranty, but I wouldn't bet on it. On my previous Lexus, the extended warranty paid for itself twice. I intend to get the extended warranty on the GS just before the 4 year warranty expires. I'm ok with spending an additional 1k for peace of mind on a 50k+ car. With the amount of electronics that go into these cars, it doesn't take much to end up spending a lot. But to each their own

Here is my experience with Lexus Factory Extended warranties. I bought my 2006 Lexus LS430 with Ultra Luxury package for almost $70,000. Since this car was a flagship model amd I was intending to keep it for a very long time. I decided to purchase an extended warranty. I bought 10years/120,000miles one for $1750. They wanted $2500 but I manage to negotiate for a lower amount but was sure I could have gotten a better deal. I wanted the dealer to earn some money so I was ok with $1750. I babied that car until 120,000miles and it was only 5.5years into ownership. This car did not need anything besides oil changes and break pads. It has proven so reliable that I started driven it like I stole it after 120,000miles.

My 2006 LS430 now has 230,000 miles and still runs like a champ. I sold it because I was getting very bored of see ing the same interior for so long and wanted to get a new lexus with all the improved electronics and technology. Well there you have it Lexus is too reliable so this time around I bought the 2014 GS 350 without the extended warranty and I am confident it will also outlast my desire for it.
