Why is our oil change set at 5k?
All other cars that I drove in recent years had 10k or greater interval, so why is GS on 5k schedule? Is it simply because they do not use synthetic oil? It can not be due to its high tech motor because it is not that high tech. Heck BMW S54 inline 6, dating back to 2001, produced 333 hp with 3.2 litre. That's 12+ years ago. Aren't Accords, Civics, Camry, etc on 7500 or 10k schedule?
Perhaps its just an arrangement between Lexus and dealers to make a bit more profit with services?

Where are you seeing that the GS is on a 5k oil change interval? Its a 10k interval with factory synthetic oil.

See page 48 onward at http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/MY1..._GS350_WSG.pdf
There is oil change at 10k, 20k, 30k etc. No oil change* at 5k, 15k, 25k
* Exception: if you drive in "Special operating conditions"
> Driving mostly on dirt roads/dusty roads
> Repeated trips under 5 miles at below freezing temps
> Extensive idling or low speed driving for long distances

Look in the manual and read on here. It certainly comes with synthetic oil and a 10k interval. There is a 5k service interval, but only every 10k is the oil changed. I've had the car over a year and its been serviced by Lexus 3 times. Only one time was the oil changed...10k miles. 0W20 synthetic.

Also look on your oil cap, if it says 0w20, it's synthetic 10k oil changes. Most manufactures are moving to 0w20 due to fuel efficiency and lower maintenance intervals.

Yeah like others have said it is with synthetic oil, and its not at 5k. My lexus guy told me when i went in for 5k service the oil change is at 10k. Not sure where you got your info from op

Yep, bought mine last August, went in for 5k maintenance (which is free of course) and no oil change, just a general checkup with a tire rotation. Oil changes are at 10k intervals.

No, services start at 5k and repeat every 5k after that, so 5k, 10k, 15k, etc. However, an oil change is only done at every other service, so 10k, 20k, etc.

Every other car I have says factory filled with ______. This doesnt have that so I would have to assume it is dino oil
If it has full synthetic then fantastic. Im not changing it for a long while.
