Default Our smooth shifting transmission

a friend of mine has been a pretty big naysayer of my gs350 f-sport, he drives an e350.

he finally drove the car and was actually pretty impressed overall, his main complain before driving was how rough the ride was for a luxury sedan, but in ECO mode he said it was pretty damn comfy.

one thing that really stood out was how smooth and seamless our shifts are, he said it is a lot smoother than his e350.

when driving, if you dont pay attention, you dont even feel the shift points.

pretty good engineering by lexus

I test drove the E class last year, prior to the model refresh. The ride struck me as being...tightly sprung. That was not a bad thing, but I found the 5 series and the GS to have a more compliant ride over different surfaces. Smooth shifting is what Lexus is known for. The most impressive part of the GS transmission is I do not notice it ever hunting for the right gear, I never notice it shifting back and forth especially in that 70 to 85 kph range (40 to 53 mph) where a lot of our in-town driving is done. Has anyone experienced gear hunting in your car?

What is this eco mode? J/K

The GS is a very impressive vehicle, Lexus needs to raise more awareness for it….

The GS is head and shoulders better then the e350. Never would i even consider trading my car in for a e350

the 535 is where the real challenge is at

MB is dated, over priced, and behind the times in so many ways. I looked at one and I'm so glad it didn't work out in retrospect

Last I checked sales are down significantly vs. 3GS. This makes no sense; they are not pushing the GS anywhere near hard enough. Everyone I've had in mine has been throughly impressed, including hardcore BMW guys. Like me. :-)

I think their December sales push was a hit here in Dallas. I am seeing TONS of GS350's driving around lately. Even saw 3 F Sports today, one matched mine. I rolled down my window at the stoplight and the other guy looked at me, I said "Nice car!" and he grinned. Yeah, silly, but fun.

I'm guessing every time you had him as a passenger you were in Sport+ mode.
